if it's only 1-2 weeks, how can some people already have that much money?

They are playing from hour 1, so they've established some enormous prices at first so, the people who came afterwards that had to buy the products from somewere, were forced by their market's monopol to buy from them. If you look at the market, at every type of product at the time, you'll see even now what were the prices at the beggining of the game (Ex: glass for 900)
Edit: plus, they are realy good and choose to produce only the products which bring the best profits

The prices for water have taken a sharp decline - possibly due to the 'entrepeneurs' (or just the ones smart enough to drop the price at least lower than the system's..

I started off with a price at like 23 caps, lower than anyone's for a few days, then competition finally caught on and started undercutting me; now the prices are very low indeed, 0.13 is the lowest I see at the moment.

If one person lowers their price then generally the (smart) competitors will charge their products accordingly, meaning water prices will only decrease from now on (i think =s), which should bring rise to contracts between players for water instead of selling on the market.

yeah, water for 0.12 now, i think this starts to make sense, water won't be the best moneymaker anymore :P

Its all going to be price driven market......

Everybody is in for themselves, hence the drastic price drop. Well good for those ppl that needs them i supposed :P

The best i seen so far POWER - 0.05 :) instantly i wasted all my power buying it up :P too bad i dont have much that time. But looking atm, its already at 0.09, sooner or later, everyone will be selling their water and power at probably, 0.01 margin :P power first, water coming soon.

Right now would selling water or gas be more profitable ? (Currently in the gas industry, making 15.55/l gas, but can easily switch to water)

I think you mean oil? At the moment, water is still more profitable than oil.
With gas, I unfortunately cannot help you as I do not have the single costs for the production. (I will, hopefully, have them tomorrow ;-) )

Nope, I was talking about gas

1 l. gas costs me ~ 4.45c and I sell for 20.00 at my Gas Station in Germany

I'm sorry... today I am too tired to calculate that ;-) you also have to take into consideration the number of units you can produce in one hour... And then compare it with the number of water produced in the same time...

... but maybe it would bring the most profit to buy the oil at the market and to produce water and selling it... I know that some players are doing this.

But the weird thing is, everyone is talking about profit, when most ppl only want to see the turnover :P I can make huge profit doing farming, but the money is so little at the end, compare if i do something like oil.
and i think its best to just sell it back at gas station or grocery. Since its a sure sales and its just the matter of time.

And Tycoon got that idea quite right, coz i would have done that also (just that now i am too lazy to restart my acc :P). I might just build 3 gas stations only and buy gas in market and sell it straight back with easily 2~3X the price. But looking atm, oil still is a better buy in market, as profit in selling oil in market prob. is about 10% but gas still can get about 2X their cost price.

In long run i would think that as controlling most (if not all) the process flow will be the best, at least you wont have the risk of low supply (hence price spike) in the market

Since you dragged up this thread from 3 months ago, let me reference the first post by saying: Most people should do the tuturial. Just consider resetting right after.
