Best place to build a power plant?
What is the best place to build a power plant? Industrial Area, Farming Area, or Raw Material Area?
The simple answer is red.
Its cheaper to build in green as the build/production price is lower but once you start to expand the 25% bonus becomes invaluable. So if you take a green pp you will have to spend 25% more time building than a red pp. Thats 25% less real power production, once you begin getting up to 2 week+ expantions its a big factor.

Depends on the realm.Murloc wrote:What is the best place to build a power plant? Industrial Area, Farming Area, or Raw Material Area?
In R1 the current power value is around 0.25.
In R2 the current power value is around 0.10.
Therefor in R1 red is definatly the best option due to the bonus power production.
In R2 right now green definatly is the best option due to the lower production cost.
However, if you want to be a long term producer at some point the red plant will beat the green plant in R2 to.
You however need to wonder if that beats the fast growth with a green plant right now.
The profit grows exponential due to the higher profit allowing you to build more cheap green plants right now.
Also, should the price go up, why not just sell the green ones and start building red ones at that point.
This last info is R2 only due to the power price being so much higher in R1 and i'm positive the R1 price won't drop.
Those who tell you to build Red are short sighted, just ignore them for they won't even bother nor be able to backup their statement with numbers.
Red vs. Green on R2 right now:
Profit:
Currently the power on the market is worth around 0.10 each.
I've seen several big batches of 0.09, but i'll just stick to selling them at 0.10 on the market right now.
Due to the 10% market fee you get 0.09 for your power
Red:
Sales: 0.09
Production: 0.03
Profit: 0.06 each.
Green:
Sales: 0.09
Production: 0.01
Profit: 0.08
Lets say you start with the 600K, you already have the material when you start.
Red:
237.500 each
3000 for 1 extra worker.
Total: 240.500 each unit
Green:
142.500 each
900 for 1 extra worker
Total: 143.400 each unit.
You start building:
Red: 2 buildings, out of cash.
Green: 4 buildings, out of cash.
Production:
Red:
20m power plant:
Product Quantity/24h: 320.792,08
Green:
20m power plant:
Product Quantity/24h: 256.633,66
Result:
Red:
Production: 2x 320.792 = 641.584 units
Profit: 641.584 x 0.06 = 38.495 c profit
240K/38K is 6 days to build the next building.
You however still have the 100k which you couldn't spend at day 1, so in 4 days you can build another plant.
Green:
Production: 4x 256.633 = 1.026.532 units
Profit: 1.026.532 x 0.08 = 82.122 c profit.
144K/82K is 2 days to build the next building.
So 4 days from the start you can build red plant number 3, but then you already have 6 green plants.
At that point you make a daily profit of 60K in red, so the next plant is again in 4 days.
In green you make a daily profit of 120K, so you can build the next plant in 1 day.
So on day 8, you build red plant number 4 and green plant number 10.
Then profit in Red is 75K/day and in green its 200K/day.
Next red plant: 3 days.
So on day 11 you build Red plant number 5 bringing your profit to 95K/day.
But you just made 3x 200K in green allowing you to build again 4 green plants which makes your green plants reach the 14 mark giving you 280K/day.
Hey, 280K = 2 new plants.
So from day 11 on you can start building 2 plants/day
And red?
Indeed, red still needs 3 days to get to plant number 6.
Then red needs 2 days to get to plant nuber 7 and another 2 days to get to number 8.
But at that point the green one will already have at least 8 more plants getting him to 22 power plants.
Profit on 22 power plants??
Lets see, 20K/plant = 440K profit on the green plants....
Hmmm
15 days into the game the red guy has 8 power plants and the green guy has 22.
But they started 2 vs 4....
And right now red still needs 2 days to build the next one where green can build 3 with the profit made on day 15!!!!
In short, green is growing a LOT faster then red.
Please, people who claim red is a lot better.
Prove me wrong...

What Ronintje said is true. However, the question becomes would you rather have the income right away (perfect for people who don't wish to remain in the power industry) or invest in for the future (perfect for people who value the long term set-up/investment of their company).
Realm 1: Red
Realm 2:
(Green for quick fast and for those who don't wish to remain producing power.)
(Red for those who wish to invest in the future, if they plan on producing power long term.)

I prefer (and have) a mix of green and red powerplants.
Ofcourse I am not in the powerbusiness, I use it for myself but red and green is a nice mix of fast and cheap power.
PS: I suppose these answers don't help a lot to make up your mind..lol.
Sorry about that, but I think all of the (posts) above is actually true.
