Special buildings

I just bought an animal shelter thinking I would need to do the same thing I'm doing for my other special buildings.

Can someone tell me what I have to do to get points from my animal shelter.

Also, a summary of all the other special buildings would help too.

But if you have got animals you can feed them and rise in the stats

and the only thing you get out of feeding your animals is less money and a ranking on the top Q animal list

Which animals can you feed there and what do you feed each of them??

I know the goldfish and the mouse need corn and the cocker spaniel needs animal food.
