Question about Gas Stations and pricing...

Post by Guest » 01.03.2007, 13:29

Hi again. Ok, I produce oil but not gas simply for the reason that I don't know how I should price Gas at the Gas Stations... (Sorry, I really am still adjusting to selling to the in-game stores  )

So how do you price gas, do I look at the stats page and follow that price? Or is that price how much companies are selling, not the prices the country's population buy it at?

Also, I should price higher for higher qualities of gas right?

Yes

Look at the stats page for the place where your gas station is. (red is good place to build) So say its in france and your selling q0 gas. The stats page says 22$ for q3.5 roughly. So if i where selling q0 id prob sell it at about 15.5. But it all depends on your supply to. Set your prices so that you dont have an overflow of gas needing to be sold, or needed gas. Your production is really how you should set the pricing. Keep an equal ratio for time it takes to produce : time it takes to sell and youll be alright. I really only use the stats page when determining resale on products i bought of market that im not producing myself. Just remember if your selling q0 gas in france for 12$ which is way under stats page price, its still much more profitable then selling on market at 10$ + 10% commission fee.

I use the production formula that Free-Way uses, but I also look at how many are thinking my price is too high, I keep that number below 50% almost always. On gas, I have found that my q2 gas will generally sell fastest and at best profit rate, around 23.00 or so. I can fill my stations once a day, which flows well with my production. I could make more profit, but my production would out-produce my ability to sell, and I would gain a stockpile... which is fine too sometimes.

One advantage I've found to having a huge chunk of gas in the warehouse, is that you can refill your stations whenever you like. What I mean is, if you only have say 800 gas in storage, and say you have 20 gas in your station (and it holds 1000), and you are about to retire for the night, you could clear your racks and redeposit the 820 gas, which means you forfeit the transport charges, or you could replace the 20 gas with the 800, or wait until the 20 sells and then refill, but if you have enough in storage to fill your station, you simply fill your station and go to bed.
