New player- very confused..
ok i'm very confused i did the tutorial, and i'm still confused. perhaps i am doing something wrong but everytime i try to produce something theres a production cost. is there anyway i can start producing water? i need both water and seeds in order to produce any items. so since seeds require 1 liter water, how do i get water? what does research/quality do? and is there anyway i can start producing stuff which won't cost me money, when you just started playing what did you do first? to make money?

Farmboy is right. Everything costs something to either buy or produce. To buy from the market, click on the "Market" icon in the row of small icons just above the picture of the secretary. If you can't find what you need on the page then look to the left of the display. There are two icons just under your company info named "Market Non-Food" and "Market Food". These will take you to a screen where you can just click on the particular item you wish to see without cluttering up the display with items you are not interested in. As a note, the links at the top of the display "All-Own-Time-Quality-Price" can be used to sort by those criteria in the individual item market screen (Doesn't work in the general market screen tho).
If you just finished the tutorial, I would recommend stopping and looking around the game some before proceeding. Ask questions, explore the forum. The buildings that you are left with after the tutorial are not very useful at the point you are at. They are great if you want to spend some time dabbling in production and as an entry in the Retail aspect of the game but you are not going to make money very fast with them.
I'm starting to sound like a broken record here (I've a few post similar to what I am about to say
) but I would recommend finding an item(s) that are in high demand by other companies and start building your company filling those needs. That will give you some breathing room to figure out what your main business will be will giving you an income at the same time.

On the top row of links, click on Help. Then on the left side, click on Buildings to read about the different kinds of buildings. Click on the Product links (left) to read about what is needed to make different products. Click on Stats (top) to see average price and average quality of retail goods (which are sold to NPC consumers). Look at the left side again and click those to see other stats. For player-to-player sales, click on Market (top) and then look at the left side links.
Probably the easiest way to make money off of the tutorial startup is (1) to make Q0 wood in your plantation and sell it another player and (2) make fruit on your fruit plantation and sell it in your grocery. Buy water off the market; it's cheap. You can make your own seeds, or you can buy higher quality seeds on the market to make higher Q fruit right away. You probably want to pick a fruit that has relatively low average quality in the Stats. Research whatever you want to produce in high quality in the future.
