help about changing production

Post by Guest » 02.04.2008, 15:08

hello!
something have come in my mind and i need your advice!
i have seven power plants, 12 plantations that curently produce cotton, 11 wells (most of them will be destroyed if i continue with my plans) 9 mines 13 factories, and some research buildings. i curently produce gas, steel (most of it for my expansions) and cotton at my plantations.
i had one free slot available and built a joinery and the idea came to my mind.
i thought to upgrade my mines and plantations, destroy the wells and build more joineries to build wardrobes.
i have made some research and i will be able to produce q3 at the begining.
is that profitable?
i have seen that many ppl want wardrobes for their stores but it is a large step and i dont know if i will be able to make it.
I want your opinion!
thanks for reading all that!

I'm rather new to the game to help you out with any solid Wardrobe advice, but I got terrified at the option of destroying your wells. :-) See if you would first phase out steel production. With steel purchase capped at 135caps/unit, it's a much safer option.

Just two cents from a fellow Greek. ^^

PS Which Realm are you in? I'd say One, right?

wardrobes are very profitables, but you may not go on this business if
your company is too small. I would suggest (it's just my own opinion,
not an in-game reality) that you go first on table, setting your line
production and shop, and when they get to a reasonnable size,
move to wardrobes.

You can start your whole joinery/furniture shop line by making/selling
tables. By increasing your research on table/wardrobe, you should be
able to make wardrobes once yours shops get a reasonnable size.

Do not forget that to keep an interresting price on wardrobes, you
should sell them on a 48h shift for store. To sell them in a 24h shift,
just fill half of the shop. Tables can be sold on 24h shift with a shop
fullfilled.

You may keep few wells to produce oil, there is a demand for that, it
can be easily produced and you may get a regular income from that
to help you going into furniture business.

Production of wardrobes can very profitable once you have an advanced production quality. At low research levels you will actually DESTROY VALUE: i.e. the market price of the end product will be smaller than the market value of inputs (wood, steel and power). You have to make the calculations by your own to estimate when it will be profitable in terms of return-on-investment to start to assembly of wardrobes. My best guess is that at the current market prices you have to reasearch the quality of the production process up to some twenties.

The point is: be careful and make some calculations first

are you from greece too???
i am in realm two!

thanks all for your tips!
but yesterday night, before anyone had posted an answer to my question, and with a bottle of vodka by my side, i sold most of my wells to the system and built 6 joineries!
which now stand still as i dont have the raw materials to run them!
i also miscalculated the quantity of the needed wood and my plantations can only produce have of what i need so i will use only half of the joineries i have built until i expand the plantations!
i also dont like tabls, dont know why but i dont like the idea of producing them!
thanks again!

I have no advice for you on the wardrobes but I would point you to this site:

http://www.kapitools.de/stammdaten-en.php

It's named Kapitools and is in both English and German. It can be a big help in pre-planning any major changes as someone has taken the time (thank you for that by the way, whoever you are) to work the numbers for all buildings at all levels. Couple this site with the in-games information you can access on inputs, and it makes transitioning from one end product to another much, much easier.

there should be a fine for drinking and playing for our companies safety!
i cant produce enough iron ore and coal to put all my factories producing steel, not enough wood to put all my joineries producing wardrobes and when i will have all that i wont have enough power for all of them to work at the same time!
also i dont have enough cash to expand!!!
YES i am a good businessman!
