Moving research center

Atm I have a research center in a green area. I have seeds at q2 and corn almost at q1. If I sell this building and built a new one in a red area, will the efforts of my scientists still remain?

Yup, your researches will remain.
So you should wait until your corn research is ready and then urgently remove your RC to the red area.
