Why is there a maximum number of buildings one can have?

i think for premium is 60 and free player 40

60 for free, 100 for premium, according to the FAQ.

I am asking why, not how many.

I think it is due to the fact that if people can build unlimited buildings, they would rather build many of each building rather than expand. It may also be for the reason that too much more building can cause server lag.

I don't know for a fact though. So try the mods.^^
