What happens if i cancel a production or expansion before it is finished? Do I get my money back? What happens to the progress already made?

while producing , you get all (if any) that you have already produced , and they are sent to your warehouse, the rest is refunded

the cancel expansion page says you get no money back.

Yes, the remaining material, you did not use, will be sent back to the warehouse with q0. The produced end-products which are finalised by then, will be sent with the desired quality to the warehouse. _this only applies to the production. And the remaining money will be reimbursed.

If you cancel the expansion, you will neither get back the material used (stell, wood stones) nor the money you invested.
