Players holding contests
I've seen a few threads here and there, but I was wondering if a player has a little contest or game they want run on a thread here on the forum (Off Topic most likely) would it be ok to have a prize to give away from your warehouse?
In my case, time to time, I'll buy all of the parts to build a motorbike strictly from the market, then build one to see what the highest Q motorbike I can make with market bought materials. Because of this, I have a few extra bikes. I just call the process a proto-market production run, with one bike.
If you are curious Q23 to Q26 has been the average week to week.
Now, what this long winded topic is leading up to, is that I wanna give one of the bikes away as a prize for a contest I wanna run. And maybe continue doing this if it is ok. To keep in the guidelines of Kapilands, I will ask the winner to pay 15,000 for the prize. The contest is only for Realm 2 members only.
If this ok with the mods, then I will post more about the contest in the Off Topic part of the forum.
Thanks

What is the problem with the proposal? I'm not selling the bike for a penny or free, they are paying 15,000. I think that's pretty fair, but I'll hear you out on why it'll be considered a no no. Honestly, I can't afford to buy coins to get those score based prizes.
Just to show why I am indifferent.
This was posted by Tycoon in the Announcements. This is to point out, that there is only ONE official contest: and this is being published in the KapiTimes.
That means: any contest being effected by a trade institution or a single player has no official background! What furthermore leads to the fact that any sending of prizes for 0 or an "illegal" price is regarded as cheating!
Pls note that there will be no exception from this!
Pls note furthermore: a cheater could officially start a contest... how will somebody proofe that the "winner" really is the winner? Or whether this "contest" has just been an excuse to send cheap material to a friend...
I am not violating this rule.
Again, I am asking you to re-consider GoldenEye. None of the participants are expected to make or sell anything. It is more of a trivia type of game, kinda like Jeopardy! the game show.
Thank you
Opus
Maybe... butVerConMat Industries BV wrote:you could be breaking that one.Pls note furthermore: a cheater could ((officially)) start a contest... how will somebody proofe that the "winner" really is the winner? Or whether this "contest" has just been an excuse to send cheap material to a friend...
Uhh you missed that partNone of the participants are expected to make or sell anything

I didn't 'miss' that, the part I quoted says nothing about recieving stuff.
The part that I quoted says something about giving the contest prize.
I'll quote it again, this time with my explanations.

(as in, sending a "prize" to a "winner" who may have gotten the anwers to ensure that he wins and not someone else,
this would make it easy to send free stuff to a friend in the name of a "contest")
Ok guys, I was waiting for that to be pointed out. So I will explain the contest further.
For the most part, it'll be a contest held publicly in the Off Topic section. Second, it will be akin to the game show Jeopardy! Third, the first person to answer CORRECTLY in the forum, will be the official WINNER. The contests run once a week. Question is asked on Sunday, winner (if there is one) and the prize given to said winner. In which, GoldenEye CAN check in the game that the bike was INDEED sold for a legit price.
Again! The prize, while it is called that, the winner is EXPECTED to pay 15,000 for the prize, which is a FAIR price.
So this is 100% legit. So where are the holes?
It is not breaking Tycoon's rules at all. This is WHY I asked what the problem was with GoldenEye, because I am making sure I DIDN'T breach the rules on Tycoon's sticky post.
Thanks
Opus

You could still give the answers to whoever you'd want to win outside of the public forum to make sure he'd be first
However, if that prize is sent using a legit selling price,
then I wouldn't see anything wrong with a contest like that.
Which realm are you on though?
I don't know much about the Motorbike industry but even Q0 is at least 30.000

First the easy answer, I am on Realm 2.
Second, your example of pricing is for retail. Since I make nearly 100% of my own materials, my cost to build a Q15 bike for example runs around 10k plus some change. Now since I explained these high Q bikes are built with parts all bought from the market, sure, 15k is much lower than the money it took to build the bike. But if I wanna sell it at a loss, for the sake of making the game available for newbies and veteran players alike, the price is legitimately over my NORMAL manufacturing cost. It's called a marketing investment and not considered foul play at all.
Again, (no offense intended) your indifference and suspicions to this are unwarranted. I have a lot to lose in Kapilands, this is why I am being so thorough in explaining this contest. Because misunderstanding and misinterpretation happens here a lot. A pity I don't know German.
Just a side note.
For the record, I do sell my bikes at 20k + 1k/Q. I am charging double my cost to build plus the gratuity of spending the money and time to improve the quality of all things proponent to raise my bike quality. I was charging 25k as a base before because MetaCorp decided to up the ante and snag more bikes from his competitors.
Then some manufacturer's like basollars, kept this as his normal cost demands to his customers. I myself was like that for awhile, then slid it back down to 20k to allow my customers a higher profit earning, to make WWP more appealing to come to for bikes.
This December, my bike production per week goes up 22.75% when my upgrades are done. I am slowly clawing and crawling my way to producing a continuous 1,000 bikes per 24 hours with a FREE account, thanks to balancing my inventory, building size, and production schedules. With my parts inventory at optimal levels, I can currently make @430 bikes a day, 57% below my goal, for now.

Let me put it to you this way.
We used to have contest in TIB where we would give out low price prizes to the winners. (Example, steel for 75c) However, we had to stop. (As GoldenEye said, there was no way to tell if things where offical which breaks the rules.)
If you want to have a contest, send the prize as either "gift symbols" or items at 10% the market price. That way they still get a good deal but don't have to worry about getting banned. (Just make sure that everyone knows it is not an offical contest.)

But even contests have to be run with legit pricing s otherefore he could of sent it normally. There's no difference, it isn't like you just directly apply for contest prize giving permissionVerConMat Industries BV wrote:I didn't 'miss' that, the part I quoted says nothing about recieving stuff.![]()
