Market goods are in alphabetical order, if you translate them to German.
The last time I suggested this, a few days later we had the trouble that the productions were mixed up completely. (Remember, you wanted to produce rubber, but instead it started to produce potatoes...)
I don
What you are refering to is the alphabetical order in the production units. Each production unit only has so many products in it, so it's no big deal whether they're sorted or not. Like you mention, in their case, yes, it's not as easy as you'd think. That bug showed very obviously that on one hand, there are the input boxes and the form you submit, and on the other hand, totally seperate and independant, there are the "labels" of each box that describe which product each box starts producing, which quantity of it you can produce with your current employees, etc.
Market goods, on the other hand, follow another logic. It's unlikely you end up on one or the other product because it is located the 2nd line, 3rd row. You end up on one or the other product because the clickable link contains a given web address. The "text description" and the clickable link are one and same thing. If you change their order around, clicking on "rubber" won't take you to "potatoes" just because potatoes were previously in that spot.
That doesn't mean it's neccesarly easy, and that no other problems are giving the devs a headache on it.

On a personal note, since the topic is up, I think this issue goes a bit beyond pure aestetics. Since I've been on the boards, I see people rising on regular intervals and complaining that the english version isn't getting as much attention as the german version. Then devs/mods answering them and listing a bunch of features that exist in the english version and that the german realms totaly envy us. So it's obviously a "false" impression (i.e. one people genuinely have, but which doesn't accurately reflect the facts).
I don't know about the german realms; I've never played there myself. I just know that a Pear has nothing to do at the letter b, and that despite my catastrophic german spelling, it goes something like "Birne" (sp ?) in german. I just know that our secretary's weird english with her "could they pinch me once" and other goofy sentences are because it goes "k
