The "Dark Side" of Kapilands

Post by Guest » 16.07.2007, 14:06

My suggestion is as follows:

What if we included a "dark side" of this game, with a black market and "illegal" products, like, well i dont know, drugs, weapons and stuff like that maybe.

A black market would be stupid though, as in RL (real life :P ) this is illegal, so we need to do it only by contracs as it would not be allowed in kapilands either. we'd need some sort of police (which could also be a buisness :P ).

It would be more risky, but more lucrative, and would add a special twist to the game which i'd find interesting.

Don't believe that i'm some sort of lunatic who wants crime and chaos in kapilands  .

To sum it up
1. More "bad" products (drugs, weapons, alcohol, and so on)

2. Illegal, of course, and we'd have to have someone to punish these guys (not by being banned, but by a fine or some time in prison, not being able to produce stuff for a while)

3. This would add a fun twist to the game. You could be honest, and risk-free, not making so much money, or you could live on the edge and making more, maybe even byuing the cops (if player owned), so it would open up for more companies as policemen (or w/e we'll call it), they can't afford to buy'em all :D

My thoughts, I believe this would be fun :D

You can find all that "dark side" stuff in other games. We don't need it here. Didn't we already have a talk about complicating the game?

 This is a capitalist game not a black market game.

This has been tried already very simalary, i dont think it will go tho for the same reason as the other one.

HERE
HERE
  • No new products
Second. how do the police catch you, like you have a place and ramdomly finds people. (not good)
Less people playing cause thwere in prison,
How do you decie the sentence
You buy the police, nobody can arrest you? Way to easy for players with alot of money
...... I can go on but i must go eat

The problem with something like this is that it tends to be better in theory than it does in practice. If the "black market" is too lucrative, it will overshadow the real game and completely warp everything. If it doesn't pay well enough, all the work was for nothing.

The most logical solution is to make it high reward but with a high risk (on a random number, police catch you and you lose everything). However, people don't actually enjoy too much randomness in games, not in what is otherwise a game of skill. You'll be chugging along for a while, but then due to luck you'll lose 2, maybe 3 shipments in a row. And be bankrupt and furious.

However Azer, I don't necessarily think it's a problem due to complication. Were something like this to exist, it could sit on the side from the main game and not be of consequence to anyone who doesn't want to partake.

I'd say that the main issue is that the Kapi economy already operates like a black market economy. That is untaxed and unregulated. In the real world the black market is the only free market.

Oh it's writeable. You keep products off the market, requiring them to be sold by contract. And you make stores that are considered "hidden" like speakeasies. Then whenever product is loaded into a store or a contract is initiated, there's a chance it will be "seized" and all goods confiscated.

Not hard to design, but also not as fun as you'd think.

you can use contracts for that, just roll a dice before sending the contract and if it comes up a 1/2 you instead of sending the contract just delete your itens.

you already have beer and wine.

IRL being bad and being good can be the same thing,
Just bad people expect they'll get caught.

NO, NO, NO there are too many clone crime games already on the net, it's old, it's boring, it's been done a billion and a half times already. YAWN.

but I would like to see Kapilands expand,
How about airplane manufaturers, it would be very costly, only for higher players.
Then airlines to buy those planes,
Airports to use those planes,
travel agents to sell tickets.

I suppose the problem with expanding Kapilands to something like customer service is the customers themselves.

So how about customers be gotten and sold by buying advertisements,
Like the spammers who sell your email address.
then you could buy the customers or leads,
Get customers for your travel agency that you could sell to your airlines, who would need to use the airport to fly their planes that somebody would have to make.

It would all be very costly, I'm sure but someplace for the game to go when you got lots of money already.

Maybe even perhaps be the guy who collects all the transportation fee's if you build a trucking company and buy trucks make at the auto plant.
Shipping freighters made at a shipyard.
then companies could pick the shipping company with the lowest price to ship their goods to other regions.

of course if you had a shipping company you would need to buy an aweful lot of trucks to send all those goods that are being sent from one place to the next in this game, which means somebody else would also likely make a lot of money off making those trucks.
Tires to go on those trucks,
Rubber and steel in those tires, etc, etc, etc.

and as long as we have a service industry why not a labor service, then we could choose the best wages to hire our workers, perhaps a technical school to train those workers to produce better?

The only reason that this game is last on any game list is because all the other games give out free game money to their users who vote, which they do not do here.

but if you read the rules on most of those sites they say that there can not be any reward offered for voting, so those other site are really cheating, regardless of how effectively.

If you report them their names are likely to be removed from those lists, then Kapi will be at the top.

I like this game the way it is now - without black markets and such not needed stuff.
