Administrative building (Production and selling time)

Post by Guest » 15.04.2007, 23:12

I'm thinking on a new function for the administrative buildings: They could make possible for the administrators to just input the time they want to produce a product.

For example, think of steel. A 20m factory in a red area for a small businessman produces 17.59 items per hour and a 60m factory produces 51.74. We could set the production for 24h in the administrative building and automatically the 20m factory would produce 422 steel and the 60m would produce 1242 steel. This could save us time and many calculations for several products or facilities with different areas.

The same could be done with stores. If we entered the time for which we would like to sell a product, the price could be automatically set.

Yeah. If the premier account offered that functionality, I'd pony up this instant :P It would be even better if you could also select a checkbox "produce until changed", and the mine/factory/well/power plant would just keep on producing by using the production time period selected by the user until the raw materials run out. Then the fun part would be balancing the production/purchase of raw materials with the manufacturing cycle so that it doesn't stop.

I'm still a relative newbie in this game, and there are plenty of repetitive tasks in this game that detract from the overall experience, and this kind of a reverse functionality of the UI would cut down on some of those repetitive tasks.

I wholeheartedly agree!! I would love this!

This will never happen. The creators don't want this kind of automation. They want people to be able to take a break from the game, and have it be the same way it was when they left it. Automated production would completely take away from that.

Could they be persuaded to on-access automation-like.
I mean:

Every building having a plan for next run

You select 24h production for the first run, and 24h production for next. When you log after 24h, first plan was finished, second got accepted and started.
There is no need for server-side automatic checks/updates. That could work like splitting the plan / restocking or whatever. It can be updated WHEN you log in.
It cound be more complicated for the stores, because the time is calculated in supply/demand basis.

That is no real AUTOMATION, it is a help for time-precise sheduling.

BTW: The reasons why I am not paying now.
1. I do not like giving money to some operator / bank or whomever.
2. I do not like giving money to developers bothering non-paying characters in any way (too much clicks etc. I can sustain some non-flashing banners).
