Put Spammers in a can!

I've noticed since kapilands went to twitter or whatever site we're being followed on, a-lot of people have been putting real world items for sale in our kapilands game forum threads, and disrupting the flow in which we kapiland company founders streamline in.

Problem: People making forum accounts and posting real-world items for sale, therefore ticking me off as well as advertising crap to the chastity of the kapilanders!

Suggestion: other then have Ninjaraku LLC sneak into there modems and go ballistic, there should be a new way to prevent random people from posting random crap like cell-phones and power-leveling on other games.

Proposal:
(1)Any one person who creates a "Kapilands-Forum Account" must include there company ID#
(2) any one person attempting to create a forum account must have a company with the "Level=Retailer",
(3)And there email address must match the one used to create the kapilands company in the Actual game.

And there you have it, since the moderators are seemingly "spread thin" this will improve the game, and keep spamming Nubs out.

even if only one of the three proposals were put into effect, it would help detour people who have no business in the kapilands business.

I agree but I beleieve that the way to get rid of real life sales is too ignore tham. Also there isnt that much of a problem, Goldneye or PearlBay deletes them quite quickly and there arent that many anymore. Too complicated of idea but agree with it.

Thanks for your suggestion. Yet the board and the game have different servers that are not connected with each others. This is why we cannot combine the board and the forums.

I am aware of those spam-bots. Some time ago we checked our bot-protection of the forums and corrected some things. Since then it seems that it got better.
If there is a spam-bot anyways please send me a PM, including a link to the profile of it. Then I can take care of it. This is not the finest way but it works, I think.

And please do not respond to those spam bot-threads!

I think phpBB forums are quite limited when it comes to protecting against bots.
Do phpBB forums have the "retype the words you see in the image" thing when you register? I forgot...

captcha? I think it did yes. But that was a long time ago.

I have asked one of my colleagues to update all currently phpbb2 forums to phpbb3. As soon as he can get to it, he will also update the current Kapilands forum.

The bot protection on the new version is still not ideal, but much better than this one. So I think we'll get rid of a large amount of those spammers that way. I'll keep you posted on the proceedings here, and will make an announcement when we are upgrading.

Would be a good idea but like mentioned above the game & forum isn't connected, if it was a major problem then forum accounts could have a waiting period of activation until a forum mod could match your forum acc with the game one, but again would be a-lot of work

i go ballistic on modems? XD maybe in the future...
thanks to GTU that suggested this game to me btw, so far i have yet to put this one in my blog lol.
