Selecting arbitrary columns of data

Post by Guest » 27.01.2009, 23:32

I was thinking, while analyzing some data, that it would be nice to be able to select only the columns of data that you need. For example, copying the stones market now looks like this:
3.647.100 MORIA MINES 0 24,48 89.281.008,00 buy
2.328.000 The Crazy 0 24,50 57.036.000,00 buy
202.199.526 Hinkelsteinbauer 0 25,00 5.054.988.150,00 buy
4.451.204 Simonious Inc 0 25,00 111.280.100,00 buy
10.544.949 BBC1 Corp 0 25,50 268.896.199,50 buy
20.000.000 xxx Spider World xxx 0 26,45 529.000.000,00 buy
25.000.000 Charge Co 0 26,50 662.500.000,00 buy
2.002.543 Eldora 0 26,85 53.768.279,55 buy
10.000.000 MudGuzzler 0 26,89 268.900.000,00 buy
200.000 Linden Agri 0 26,90 5.380.000,00 buy
1.139.562 Exalis Corporation 0 26,95 30.711.195,90 buy
1.509.750 mart00 0 26,97 40.717.957,50 buy
85.000.000 IZMIR LTD 0 26,98 2.293.300.000,00 buy
999.899.909 Talaat Mostafa Group for Power 0 26,99 26.987.298.543,91 buy
Now, if we could only select and copy the first column (volume) and fourth column (price), this would greatly reduce the amount of work needed to analyze the data.

If you paste the data into excel, has I usually do, the data it's placed in columns and you can delete the ones you don't need.

Speaking for myself, I was an addict of old Lotus 123, but since 1996 that my 1st tool in calculations is Excel, sry but oppenoffice doesn't do everything I need, besides their technical support takes too much time to answer.

excel is good when you know how to use it. I find it useful because I've used it for years so i got a few tricks I tried to use a few of the player designed excel worksheets for kapilands, however i decided to make my own.

i got it set up to

analyse production and tell me how much I can make on current contracts per production cycle.
-this lets me see how many production facilites i need before i can do certain things

then several different views of my company growth, and targets.

however I do respect the anti microsoft feelings, when things dont work it can be very annoying lol
