know QL before starting production

Post by Guest » 15.01.2009, 20:02

Not much annoys about this game (very little in fact) but not actually having a visual representation of what a products QL will be before production starts is a bit annoying. It's not even in Kapiscript (which is otherwise great).

Basically, you put your amount in, click produce and hope your maths is correct or you're not so tired you miscalculated. When you click produce it then tells you the QL output. Surely my line managers can tell me before production starts, catching mistakes :)

Surely this wouldn't be too hard to impliment, by simply adding a confirm button on the screen after you click Produce. That way you see the level and decide yay or nay.

Another reason this would be helpful (and i don't know if this is a glitch) but when i set my textile factory to QL0 my jeans come out at QL1 and i have to cancel the job and restart it with the same damaged (now QL0) materials. Actually whilst typing this i have had the thought that the QL level of the building only relates to the QL level of the Good being manufactured (which is at 0) but the materials retain their QL level. Would that be correct? And if so that's a bit odd. If I set my building to QL0 it's because i want my manufactured good to be QL0.

Anyway, that's for another post, but to know the QL level before production begins would be extremely helpful.

its not that hard to calculate
quality of material 1 +quality of material 2+quality you have researched
divided by the total number products
here is mine
water q0+ powerq0+seedsq34+woodq33=q67/4 equals quality 16 wood

i know the equations :) it's just tiresome trying to remember the levels your stock is at, then not remembering and having to look, then returning to do it and forgetting again because you're forgetful at times. And given the amount of times people make things it would be a simple yet great addition. Consider it terms of time taken to impliment versus the amount of times over the coming years it is of use to people... every day :)

you just have to click warehouseto see your quality materials

you're really kind of missing the point about making things easier :)

but fair enough, you're not sold on the idea, i get that :)

Ok, here's a real life reason why this should be implimented.

I'm trying to make tires level 1.

I have researched Tires to QL1
My steel is QL1
My rubber is QL2

So, in theory 4/4. Lovely. So I impliment 4 tires, using all my rubber (just started this) and guess what? Yep, a cock-up (by me, I forgot to change the Building QL level) and my tires are overall QL 0, so i cancel it and bang goes my rubber.

In a game which penalises so severely (as in ruining matrials QL, no un-do feature) surely it is logical to assume my plant is run by someone who can gague the QL output and tell me before all the machines are turned on and we pass the point of no return.

Thank you

that is why you should set all of your building Q levels at 127 that way it is always at the highest

thats what i do, and so do a lot of other people

generally I do, occasionally i forget, occasionally needs mean it is altered.

Another reason it would help:

i have different grades of oil, i want to make a specific grade of plastic, i forget which of the oil grades is the least i can use to make the plastic so i have to actually go out of the factory and figure out what oil to use, when a simple button confirming production after telling you the QL would save all the agro.

There is no rational arguament against the logic of this change. I can accept that it may not/will not be implimented because the devs can't be bothered, but there is no rational reason why it isn't a better idea than what is currently there. Saying you should do this or that, well generally i do, as do others, but with so much going on surely a good way to encourage people to play is to make little things simpler for players...!?

Great idea!
I hope the developers will take a look at it.
