Company value?
Moderator: moderators
There was a discussion on this issue. We decided not to have this stats, because if we count cash + fix assets that still does not give the "real" company value. Maybe there are contracts not yet signed (so the cash figure is not necessarily telling you the real "status" of a company)... and some meant that in such a case we also would have to give the value of the warehouse etc.
It became a kind of "custom" that companies emphasize more on their rank in the fix assets stats. (in the German version)

This was part of the discussion we had:
When thinking about stats on fix assets + cash, there were lots of players who said: if we do that, we also have to implement the rest figures which can say something about the company value (especially the contracts not signed by a customer. These contracts could bring you to a higher ranking, so people wanted to have it in there.... On the other hand people, who had to sign the contracts, wanted to have the warehouse so that they do not loose a rank in this...). As this was too hard, it was one of the reasons not to have this kind of ranking.

Would it be possible to have some sort of ranking over the companies that have had the largest income druing lets say the last week, month, year?
In real life the market value of a company would be the net present value of all future dividends. The dividends then relying on future profit. Therefore some ranking of the most profitable companies would be nice.

I just wanted to inform you that there have been discussions on that and what people thought about it... it would have been unfair in my opinion, if I knew of this and wait until you begin the same discussion... Furthermore it is important to see all points of view in such a discussion, and one of it was, that users said:cash + fixed assets is not sufficient, that does not show the "real" value of my company. (and there will be lots of players, as I said before, who want to have a higher rank and therefore want their contracts to be taken into account)Klasanov wrote:Well, I understand why company value shouldn't be calculated using warehouse and contracts.
But that's no reason to say there shouldn't be a company value ranking.
Of course you can discuss about this and we mods will also pass this to the admins as one of your proposals...
But in reality, stocks/inventory in hand YES, money in hand, YES (i think), contract in hand, NO (due to not realize sales)
Well look at it in another way, a guy could have kept 10,000 cars in his inventory with only minimal building and cash. But his ranking is off by that much.
Well just a tot anyway, I personally don't look at the ranking, but it you only look at FIX assets and not assets in whole, its not the true value thats all.
