Player run contests

Post by Guest » 17.03.2008, 00:08

This is an idea that sort of just hit me as was catching up on some of the forums I hadn't read in a while.

I have no idea how feasible this idea since I know nothing about the coding that goes into making up this game but since there seems to be an interest in players running some of their own contests and giving out prizes for correct answers in the "Board Games" Sub Forum how about this:

Have a player get pre-approval for the contest BEFORE posting the contest. Send the prize to a dummy, Admin run account so there is no question that they are violating the rules by sending it directly to winner. When the contest is finished, the contest creator simply PMs the Admin who is chosen to run the dummy account or post the winner the contest thread and the prize is sent to the winning Company by the Admin rather than the player himself.

Like I said, I don't know if this would be easy, hard or impossible to do, but I thought I'd go ahead and post it.

It's a great Idea, but very hard. If many players will make their contests, Admins will have too much work i think.

After I posted that idea, powenterprise, that thought occurred to me and was going to edit my OP. When I reread it though, another thought occured to me as well.

Since the contest by the players would need pre-approval from admim (to ensure that everything is above board and legit) they have a built in brake there. They could simply hold down the workload by using a queue system so that there are not too many running at once. Plus they could ensure that player run contests don't interfere with regular contests.

As I said in the OP, I don't even know if this is possible. I had notice that there were at least 2 people (from reading the forums) that wanted to give prizes in their own personal efforts but were prevented by the rules. I thought this might be a reasonable compromise.
