Shorter build times - will developers consider?
Moderator: moderators
didnt you get it, if everyones building times were shorter, the game and its internal relations between players would not change, only change would be the speed. ever heard of other browsergames that have 2x or 4x speed servers? thats just made for the addicts who need to be online 18hrs daily. nothing more. the whole game just develops at twice speed, but this doesnt make it any easier for the new players.
well what he wants to do is change to build time in this server so the new company can just shoot right up to being the biggest company which is stupid. This is a compititon, so the new company's would be getting a huge advantage over the people who have worked hard to make there company's what they are today
It probably would, but just can't say without having been in the position where i'd have to choose.Straw Man wrote:I get that and wouldn't suggest a game altering feature, except maybe as a new version for another server. Shorter build times would be a quantitative rather than a qualitative change. The game would be exactly the same, just shorter. Suppose the original, arbitrary choice for mine build time had been an hour, rather than half an hour. Would that be okay with you?
Its just like this.
Every billionaire, manager and even Retailer has been at the point where they started the game and had to decide if they wanted to continue or not.
They knew the building times and despite that most of them decided to continue.
Everybody who got past the initial 5 buildings that are build real fast got to a point where they noticed building takes a lot of time.
Obviously most of them considered the time worth the effort.
Either cuz they manage to get it implemented in their breaks or cuz they just don't really care they might never reach the maximum size to have their fun.
Maybe even cuz they consider it fun to manage a game that might take 5 years to reach the point of being done.
I'm currently building a RC to maximum size and just accept it taking 3 more months to finish it cuz i think its worth waiting

So i guess with continue playing people state they actually don't mind it.
Its just part of the game, you either like it or you don't and looking at my current ranking position i guess there are many people who consider it fine.
Well, i've shown you the exact quote of the developers.Straw Man wrote:If the developers state clearly that they won't consider reducing build times, then I'll drop the idea, but so far, I've only heard from billionaires. No offense, but I don't care what you want, only what I want and what would be good for the disenfranchised hoi polloi whose interests I advocate. Lots of people are more important to the developers than a few people.
I guess that quote is pretty clear to me.
They definatly won't change it in the current game.
They might ofcourse change it in a new format, but i even doubt they will do that.
That ofcourse can be discussed using the zbombe igm or maybe even goldeneye since i'm not sure zbombe is still active.
You could try the thing greed inc. wrote tho.
Maybe they would consider a speed version of the game, but still you wouldn't reach the top of the list when you start 2 years later without buying coins.
Thousands of people reach the stay/leave decision point. The fact that some, such as yourself, stay, doesn't mean that conditions are optimal. Maybe more would stay if build times were shorter. You're not addressing my contention that the game might be more successful with shorter builds.Ronintje wrote:Every billionaire, manager and even Retailer has been at the point where they started the game and had to decide if they wanted to continue or not.

Huh? The Zbombe quote wasn't about build times.Ronintje wrote:Well, i've shown you the exact quote of the developers.

I give up.........Straw Man wrote:Thousands of people reach the stay/leave decision point. The fact that some, such as yourself, stay, doesn't mean that conditions are optimal. This is useless.....
Have fun with your quest for getting something changed that has already clearly been stated won't ever be changed.
actually i think the time for expanding should be shortened for the low level players....if not its hard for them to go more higher level...
Example if normally need 20 days to expands....for the lower level it just need 16 days...it means just 20% more faster than normal one....
GOT ANY COMMENT BOUT IT?

Why would it be hard for them to get up???tcu wrote:actually i think the time for expanding should be shortened for the low level players....if not its hard for them to go more higher level...

Every trader and up has been throught that stage without the shorter building times and they managed to do it.
I even bet it's less difficult for those who start now anyway cuz they can sell products with huge profit due to the current market price.
When i started fruits were 3.00 ea, coal was 7 ea, power was 0.08 ea.
So i had to build my company with a lower profit then those who start right now!!
And those who bother buying coins can even get up even faster.
Those were about 100K when i started playing and right now they are 100M.
Imagine starting right now and buying 10 euro's worth of coins.
You are billionaire within a day

Okay... in order to prevent that people get indignant due to this I take pity on me.Straw Man wrote:This gets discussed a lot on other threads, but I don't recall a game official commenting.

And that is why I answer the question... and sorry, but it will be a very short answer. Arguments are also given in this thread...

No.Straw Man wrote:Shorter build times - will developers consider?

I do not agree to speed up the building time because it does not improve the game play experience at all.
The aim of this game is to grow up your virtual company and wealth slowly. Let me ask you Straw Man, if you can build your full expansion in 6 months instead of 2 years, what are you going to do next? Is there any significant difference between 6 months and 2 years in expansion time in this game? Do not tell me you have money fast so you can earn more faster, that does not change your game play experience at all.
Kapilands is a long term game and players are friendly competing among others, it is cooperative sales game. So it really does not big matters whether you are Merchant or Tycoon. You still can enjoy the game even you are small. There is no reason why you want to be bigger faster.
p/s:
Kapilands is not hard at all compare to other business game. I become Manager within 2 weeks due to the help of contest. And I earn my first 100 million within 1 month. I would have been Billionaire before the end of 2008 but I was busy recently and did not do my production well, so I am still Large Scale Manufacturer now
Believe me, if you feel Kapilands is hard, then you are not suitable to play any business game.

I didn't say KL was hard, I said it was slow. Using a different avatar, I have placed first in several 3 month rounds of a different business game. Math was my favorite subject in school and I have 4 college degrees. Who died and gave you superior qualifications to mine, even in KL. Since so little information is available about other players, it's hard to tell who is getting the best results relative to time played and coins bought.MrRight wrote:Believe me, if you feel Kapilands is hard, then you are not suitable to play any business game.

Anyway, since GoldenEye says developers won't consider shorter build times, that's the end of this topic.
