This forum appears to be dieing.
Why ? And what can be done to revive it ?
This isn't a dig at the mods or the people that contribute already it's just a shame to see the place so inactive. Where are all the people who used to post ? the likes of Sally, greed, adonthegreek, etc. etc.
For myself I lost a lot of interest about 9 months ago when the maturity level of the post seemed to drop.
Let's try to revive the forum and make it a fun and instructive place to inhabit again.

I was going to write a long an detailed reply to this but I really dont think much can be done to fix this problem. The problem to my mind is that we have covered all the aspects if the game in detail so almost anything we look at is stale and when we do find a item we do agree on then we cant do anything because of upjers complete lack of interest and involvement.
Quite frankly I couldn't suggest this game to a m8 since the only reason I play is because I cant walk away from such a massive time investment. Sorry if that offends anyone but I can only say what I feel....
My 2 Very Pessimistic Cents

Completely agree whilst most of the older players have discussed and debated all things kapilands there's plenty that haven't and still want to learn, unfortunately most of this seems to be via IGM rather then on the forum now but i find that better as it can seem quite a single player game without a few IGM's to answer and respond to, it is a shame the forum isn't a little more active though most nre starter questions have probably been answered though and easy to find with the search option.
When I first started playing Kapi, straight after logging on I would open the forum and spend most of the day in and out of here. As I said in my original post maybe about 9 months or so ago I just got bored with the content of the posts and gradually stopped checking the forum altogether.
Maybe it does get stale after a period. I think before I stopped checking in, a lot of the regular posters had already reduced their activity. I suppose answering the same questions day after day and not having the amusing distraction of Ronintje's posts gets a bit tedious.

I think i just started reading the forum around that time there was plenty of 'debates' between Ronintje and Strawman and Sally if i'm getting the names right, i tend to have Kapi running in the background if i'm on the comp (i get a fair few contracts from new companies still so don't like leaving them waiting for ages to sign them) and use the forum link to bring up a new tab for other things so am still sort of around a fair bit.podge wrote:not having the amusing distraction of Ronintje's posts gets a bit tedious.
=) Hehe I remember some of those "debates" they all ended up with everyone have a good laugh, usually at their expense
At the the risk of sounding like a bit of a broken record im looking at all the problems that have plagued the r1 server cropping up in R2 and there is not much we can do. The spiraling inflation and trending towards the quite annoying wardrobes will only increase. We end up with demand for raw materials making the NPC based wardrobes look more and more attractive = stunningly boring gameplay the advice to the new player is just spam the joineries!
As always we do need a serious amount of change in the system, a top to bottom shake up but you know the stupid bit? For a minimal change to the way the game functions upjers could increase their profit 2 fold and garner way more interest in all their games! Instead they allow the game to fall in decrepitness with vague promises of "when the programmers get around to it" is really quite depressing to watch a game with such potential die out, and make no mistake its a dieing breed.
Enjoy the game for whats its worth, im off to do my exam revision

We should encourage contests more, they seem to be the only fun factor left in the game...
Also, upjers have solved the "wardrobes and gas being the only big buck makers" problem, by making KapiRegnum, which is basically Kapilands with all the problems kind of fixed, like mostly every product is quite profitable on there etc.

Yeap, I have to agree there.VerConMat Industries BV wrote:I'm still around though I'd have to admit that I spent most my time on the forum reading posts instead of writing in them..
No need to post when the answer has already been posted by someone else. Or is stuck in a forum stick for that matter.

The forum needs some more people who care more for economics than the game itself. That is what made it so great back at the start.

Luckily, you can go back and see those old posts. (Which I recommend new players to do.)
The forum became quieter, that is absolutely correct.
But this is how a board that is bound to a certain topic (Kapilands) always develope.
I am also not quite sure about the reasons for this. In my opinion there are certainly several reasons that people are not willing to write in here anymore.
In the past players used the forums to find a lot of information. But many players nowadays are that experienced that they don't need the forums anymore. And those who helped others in the past see that they are not needed that much as before.
Others think "Hey, we had this thread in the past. Why cannot the new player use the "search"-function?" and refuse to help/post.
The atmosphere became sometimes very aggressive; personal struggles discussed in the public are not professional and are a very strong argument for new players to stay away from the forums. Then we had several postings in which new players have been offended by older ones for whatever reasons... again the new players stayed away.
And there are certainly more reasons.
But there is one thing I would like to correct.
Horizon wrote several times about upjers' lack of interest in Kapilands and that this would be the main reason for letting the board get quieter. I hope you do not really think like this.
upjers is of course interested in Kapilands. Of course they did not implement a lot of huge changes in the past. But they still support the game, implemented a lot of small things over the last months, work on bugs etc. So please stop complaining about a "lack of interest" as this is simply not true.
So how can we as the active board members bring some more action into the forums? And please do not start with "Allow senseless and dumb spam!"... we all know that this is not "activity" but just a shame.
I just want to point out: We had some actions from time to time to get some more players into the forums. But it is not just part of the Kapilands-team to make the new players stay. It has also to do with the rest of the community to help new players, to show that you are willing to get other players to discuss etc.

Well, I sometimes forget to log in the game, to pick my money up. Thats why I stopped buying from regular suppliers long time ago - I have always been one of the non-profitable self-suppliers, so whatever I need, I can produce it.
Why should I open the forum? I do cope, understand the basic of stats make some money, keep supporting upjers instead of the coin inflation on R2.
Upjers. Erm, from my (German) point of view, I have NO idea what they are up to. I have neither an idea about the backgrounds concerning browsergames in general, but commercials for other (newer) upjers games surprize me on tv. There are a few new games being launched since I started playing kapilands - the german molehill brought me here, and somehow ALL new upjers games look a hell like molehill - even the new kapi-realms...
However, I stick to the old realms as long as the kapi-skript is supported, as soon as this is on strike thats me spending my time (and monthly 2
