Abusing the market

Post by Guest » 13.05.2009, 13:53

Have you seen the Power market lately? The company "[xxxx]" and now also "[yyyy]" is bombardering the Power market with small offers that take up pages. They are using up 20-40 rows when they could just be using 1 or 2. Can a Admin perhaps do something and preferably remove these market offers when there are so ridiculously many?

Or if you think this is ok then perhaps I should start also.

[EDIT by GoldenEye: Please do not publish that company names in here. Denunciation is not allowed. Thanks.]

1. This should be in the General Chat forum instead of the Trade Syndicates forum.

2. They aren't doing anything against the rules. That means Admins cannot do anything about it.

3. Don't buy from those people. (Also, you can put them on your ignore list.) If nobody buys their offers they will stop making a [censored] of themselfs by being so annoying. Placing 20+ sets of an items of the same quality and price is just annoying to everyone.

Ok, good post. Although I wish there could be a active admin ingame that "clean" some of these offers that are obviously just there to take up space. :x

There are 2 options.

1. They are cheap --> so they get sold real fast.

2. They are to expensive --> they won't get sold.

If 1, who cares??
If 2, just put your offers on the market and they get sold while the annoying offers won't get sold and they won't be able to put more offers up for sale :)

To me this isn't abuse, but it might be considered annoying.
Maybe admins are allowed to warn them for being annoying to others??

I always select the option to organise the market so the best offer gets on top, so i actually don't care at all about their offers.
I actually like them for destroying the power market and making power very cheap for me to buy :)
Lucky me for noticing to get out of the power business in time :) :)

It's like a spam.
Let's imagine everybody will do the same thing. Power suppliers will send 1 bil power in 100mil parts, car producers will sell 20 cars one by one and so one. Is this a good thing? I don't think so.
I think this practice shold be forbidden.

I agree, it is not only annoying, it is spam, and it is usually forbidden to spam. And whether or not it is against the rules, I consider it as abuse because they show no respect of the others that they share the market with. They spam their offers into small pieces to make them more visible but I don't think this is how the market is intended to be used.

Then put a lot of power on the market under their value and make sure they won't sell.
That will make it impossible for them to do it again.

Other then that, it only shows the market is flooded, so stop selling power and start producing/selling something else.

In order to be successfull you should be able to adapt to the market and change your strat to continue making a profit.

I wonderif you would have complained had the power price been around 0.20 instead of 0.10...
So isn't it you complaining about the power value rather then the way someone is offering his power??
I think it is, and you should not complain but adapt instead.

Well if no one complains then they will continue spamming. And I'm not complaining about the price and how someone would think so is beyond me.

they do not against the rules. but it is quite annoying to buy in a few rows when can be done in one row. 10 rows mean 10 clicks, and it is a nightmare for slow internet connection.

Why nobody likes spam?
There should be respect to other players. If you want to promote your product, you should use other methods rather than spamming the market.

I agree that it isnt against the rules- sure its annoying but you get to be able to put up to 40 offers on the market as a non-prem and 60as a prem so you have the right to use them all up- it is promotion. If I didn't care about how I looked there would be so many ways I could self promote my showcase which mayt show me selling stones or something-I think there should be a hit counter on showcases. IF there were then I would love to prove it on realm 2 how I could get myself noticed mrore and at least double the daily average of hits on my showcase.

It doesn't bother me either, like Ronintje said before, you can choose the options: time, quality or price, and usually the offers list changes according to the option you chose.
Then the long list of 1 company is not an issue anymore. :D

This should be reason enough to have those spam offers deleted, and if they continue, their company deleted. It is a form of spam.

So will it be taken care of? Admin?

LOL, things aren't spam cuz you say so.

Then i could say you should be banned from the forum cuz i consider your messages in this thread to be spam.

Imagine what the world would look like if they would agree with that :P

They clearly don't refer to the market with that rule.

That makes no sense at all. You clearly don't understand the definition of spam.
