i haven't read all of the forums lately and i don't know if i want to lol

i just wanted to defend myself against the " just don't use the bank" stuff

most the time i don't use the bank, but the contest started and i was sent WAY more contracts the first day then i expected, so i lowered my price, the 2nd day even with lower price i got even more contracts, i couldn't accept them all, so the 3rd day with an even lower price i still got heaps of contracts and i was already two days behind with about 20+ messages a day saying "omg why won't u accept my beer"

so on the 4th day i closed off buying beer all together, figured i would take a loan out and finish up buying all those beer contracts ( i loaded out 350million) so i did that

on the 5th day i had bought up all the beer but i was SOOOOOO far behind in my wood contracts and steel and wardrobe etc, so instead of repaying some loan i thought i would leave them another day and accept some wood

on the 6th day i was still behind, so i finished them all up and i planed to repay my loans on the 7th day

on the 7th day i loged in and had 0 buildings, it still says i have 100 building but i have none

now the stupid thing is, i had around 495-500Million in my shops i was going to empty and repay my loan and get back ontop of thing and get ready for the next wave of beer but because of my 350million (i think it was 350, might of been 99milx4 so 400mil i can't remember was a few weeks ago now) i lost 3.7billion worth of buildings which also had another 500million cash sitting in the shops, kinda stupid yeah? hell i would of even repayed 1billion cash to the bank to shut them up but guess the not happy with that

now i know ppl say don't use the bank etc, i know the bank sucks, but the fact the game doesn't have any solid backup or rollback, i mean come on, is there any safeguard against someone hacking the server and wipeing the game?

anyway incase anyone wants to know why i used the bank, well my lead on realm 2 is massive, if i wanted i could of been twice or 3 times bigger then number 2 by now but i spend alot of my money on crap helping out the realm, in those 3 days i was accepting beer at the start ofthe contest i pumped like 1.5 Billion into the realm

so yeah i only used the bank because i was sick of the messages about not accepting beer, but they had there right to msg me, i did say i was buying it, but i don't think many ppl understand the amount of pressure put on the top players on realms, we probley get more messages asking for help then the mods on these forums and all i did was try to help ppl out and im told by admin, that they don't have any solid backup, i even pasted a list of my building which was 1-2 weeks old at the time with each building building ID etc

also just so everyone knows, i was told by admin because of the time it would take to redo all the buildings of exact size would bee too much they was offering me a handfull of building of the same size i had before, then another offer was made of cash to the amount it cost to buildand expand all the buildings i had

both option i could of taken and kept playing, but so many thousands of hours lost in expanding time, i just couldn't do it, mabye only option for me is to wait for a realm 3 MABYE

Why can't they help you ? After all i can't be that hard to do , especially with a copy of your company !

People @ Upjers have to do something beacuase people are losing faith and fun at this game !

one last note, i know it sounds like i hate kapilands and all the admin, i don't

i am angry at the situation and i only hope they do something about the bank, and mabye even do some solid backup of the servers, i mean if they have no backup they leave themselfs wide open to being hacked and wiped

and if they do have some sort of backup i did get onto them very quickly and i would of thought mabye a rollback could of saved me, i would of made it upto the realm and pumping as much cash possible into everyone for some time hehehe

anyway, i enjoyed this game and im hopeing to see improvements within the game soon, mabye back for realm 3 if that ever happens

Well, so I guess this is the final goodbye (atleast until realm3 is up).

There is a question for the admins I would very much like to get answered in the bottom of this post.

I've tried to avoid posting too much, because I've seen there are too many things I don't know enough about, but now I want to add to those speaking out for a fix.

The bank needs some fixing. Clear things would be that it shouldn't seize more buildings than asset value exceeding loan value+interests, as far as I've been able to tell this happened here by a factor about 3-4.
Also the bank should try to find sufficient cash other ways:
1. Take the cash
2. Visit stores, and take new cash
3. Perhaps sell stocks
Selling goods won't work, because there's now fixed value for those.

Backup needs fixing. Very clear. There's been a few cases now where response has been along the lines of "data is not recoverable". I'll make this a long post and take a little from my own backup experience. A few years ago I were responsible for taking backups. We would do daily backups to store for a week, and weekly backups to store a month and monthly backups to store for a year. These were images of the entire system in case of fires or other kinds of damage to most/entire system which I believe included everything, even OS. If someone tells me Upjers don't have a backup somewhat similar to this I'm stopping all use of coins(real money) immediately. That's worse than gambling. However such backups are not (atleast in our form) suitable for recovering small pieces of data. So the explanation here could be that it's simply too costly to recover single companies from this kind of backup.

I would also expect Kapilands to have a more specific backup of it's database. With storage prices of today these should have insignificant cost, and would make it simple to recover a company. One possible reason to need this is an overactive bank, but what if someone guess my password goes in and sells off every building I've got for 0.00

what i feel is they should keep the bank as in the real wrld: they shud have a collateral.... we give them some bldgs and they give us loan according to value of that bldg(just construction and expansion costs) this way we know wat bldg we will lose if we dont pay back loan

someone already mentioned this idea i think but the point is the bank needs to be fixed!

i am mad at upjers and after this whole ordeal i will never in any way purchase coins for a premium account if this doesn't get fixed

You're right. Many people don't appreciate the pressure on the rich people (as in real life)
They just think richest people don't need to worry about money.
Even a large large bank can go bankrupt if all its accounts are withdrawn.

iskongen's suggestion about finding cash is good
May I add one more ways? The raw materials
It's true that goods don't have fixed price.
However, raw materials have their NPC price.
Seizing steel, stones, wood may be more than enough for a loan

I agree that backup is essential
Kapilands's fun as a game but it isn't funny to lose data.
MODs should get things backing up.

Thats pretty bad and they should be able to fix your company up- especially if you gave them all the exact building ID's jesus what are they there for anyway? to look pretty?

Really sorry to hear this. Yeah, the bank is really nasty, especially in the context of a game like this where it's normally hard to "lose". Hope it works out for you somehow.
