What products comes after raw materials?

Post by Guest » 06.12.2008, 05:09

What product comes after raw materials that everyone almost has to have?
Please give reason why you think a lot of players need these products.

I am guessing plastic because it looks like a pain to make as far as buildings are needed to produce plus the amount of products it is in.

Thanks in advance for your time and input.

dont count on this, chemicals dont sell in huge quantities.

btw. there exists no product that players "almost have to have"

if ur in gas business, you only need oil beside the raw materials
if ur in wardrobes, you only need the raw mats
in leather jackets you need cotton and cattle -> textiles and leather

so its quite varied. ergo, there exists no product that players have to have

Secondary products after the raw materials are not very useful to much players unless to be sold to NPC or to make complex product such as (Cars, Television, Computers, etc.).

So after raw materials all products are kind of on an equal footing it just what business players choose is what demanded from the market. Now I see why people do wardrobes their is an endless supply of materials from the npc just need high Q research in wardrobes and you in business.

You are only partly correct.
Using NPC material (75c wood + 135c steel) to make wardrobe, and you lose money big time!
You only stop losing money until you reach like Q35 research.

I am producing and selling Wardrobes Q25 for 5.600 each on my stores (4 stores with 10.000sqm with 5.000 units to sell on an cycle of 24 hours), each one costs me around 900,00 to produce, but this due I have Mines (Coal Q19, Iron Ore Q18, investing in Minerals research), Wells, Plantations (Wood Q25, investing in Seeds research), Power Plants, Factories (Steel Q21, investing in Chemicals research) and Joineries. I am only buying on the market Seeds Q34 and Chemicals Q31. So in my opinion to have great profits in each unity produced/sold the best way is to have all the line of production from the start to the end, besides you won't be dependable of your suppliers to run your business.

I myself produce wardrobes q19 with materials bought from npc/even higher q with mats bought from other players. I dont need to have plantations, mines, factories, wells, power plants, plant RCs, mine RCs, chemical RCs. I can focus on expanding my stores and joineries (and technical RC) which in the long run makes me way more money 8)

Now siberian, if i understand correctly you produce and sell 20k wardrobes daily, the production costs you 900 and you sell for 5600.

This makes you 94 millions daily. Can you tell me how many buildings you use to make those wardrobes?

For your consideration, i make 10k wardrobes per day in a 4k sqm joinery. If i use materials i buy from npc, i make q19 which costs me 2350 caps. I sell them to a big wardrobes retailer for 2950. Pure profit is 600 caps per wardrobe, 10k daily gives me 6 mil profit in one joinery. In 16 joineries i make daily 96 millions. Thats 16 joineries.

Now, making everything yourself would require umm lets see:
You need in total 50mil power and 25mil water for the production of 20k wardrobes. This means abit more than 3 power plants and 3 wells.
Secondly, you need 400k wood. You need 11 plantations for this.
Now the biggest consumer, the steel:
Steel requires 5 steel 2 iron ore (+ chemicals which you said you buy). 5 mines. To turn coal, iron ore+chemicals into steel, you need 5 factories.
For making wardrobes you need 2 joineries and finally 4x10k shops to sell them.

That is 3+3+11+5+5+2=29 production buildings. You also need 4 shops sized 10k sqm or, alternatively, 10 shops sized 4k sqm.

However, we also need to research the products:
We need wood, coal, iron ore, steel and wardrobes research. You said you are investing in seeds, minerals and chemicals research.

That gives us 5 (8 ) things to research. If we want to have consistently fast researching we need 2 RC's for each product (one expanding, other one researching). That is 10 (16) RC's.

So now when we add up those buildings, you need 49 (54) buildings to make so much money with producing and researching everything yourself that you would (could) make with 18 buildings if you concentrated on researching and producing wardrobes and buying the materials from market rather than making your own little wardrobes chain.

My little thought experiment was made under consideration all buildings are same sized and that your and my companies are roughly the same size and effectivity. If you consider shops sized 10k sqm you need 43 (48) buildings.

So now tell me, is it still so good to produce everything yourself?

I think u have given out a very important message here.
But the problem is that most players think that if they produce products on their own, they keep costs down and double profits..
The most important factor here is "TIME" which no one considers..

You have a point on that, but I still prefer to produce everything for myself than to be dependent from the regularity of other players (I have already be dependent from others). My expansions are made by other players (well I am still a little bit dependent), but their regularity don't cause trouble on my line of production, cause I have all materials needed to produce my own wardrobes.

I dont think you would have trouble finding a regular power/wood/steel producer if you offered them fair prices. If even that fails you always have the npc. Anyway, you make 3 times less money you could. So if you had joineries operating only one day out of three, you would make same amount that you make now with all the myriads of buildings.
