Managers can send it to you if you're not a manager yet.
If you are a manager there is a research market (appears on the market as soon as you are a manager)

Do it the way you feel like doing it

Though I do recommand at least 2 power plants, then you can expand one while the other one is producing.

as the cost of the ingredients go up...so does the cost of producing the item. If you Research an item the cost of that Research also inceases the cost of the item...for awhile then it settles down.

if you look around in this board and the beginnerboard you will find many many interesting stuff to read (especially the sticky threads). and the section with the big questionmark in game is very helpful too.
So why don't you start reading there first? You will see that most of your questions are answered right now!
