There are people who want to rule the world.There are people who just wanna live.
In kapilands we can feel a moviment against market freedom. Pulling the prices of the power up is a really bad thing;
Most companies depend on power to make their production. If power prices go too high, the production costs too much. If the production is too expensive, the pice for the final costumer gets too high. And if the price is too high, no costumers buy, and the economy of kapilands STOP.
I am afraid that it may happen here. If the price of the power starts to rais, the economy will break. People should start preparing for a VERY bad period.

Hello!
I wrote this a few minutes ago and sent it to newspaper. Btw, I don't even know if I could do such a thing, but I did. Raising the power prices is not good for anybody. If they raise the power price, people will just start producing their own power. Or worse. They will stop producing. And once upon a time, I heard from a wise person: No production no market.
Oh, and by the way, in my country making this kind of agreement is called "Cartel" and it's against the law. We should fight for free market!
Kind regards,
Zarevock

yup it bad for everyone as even if you are small you will not like it later when you are buying power off market

Capitalism is a force of nature. It always finds a way. 8)

All this telling people what to sell for (on both sides) is silly.
  • If you think the price of power is too high, build a plant. You help yourself and help move the market the way you want.
  • If you think the price is too low, stop producing and start buying. Same thing happens.

the power hike is good for power producers though, im Con inc. and i produce 18million power a day, if the power price goes up even by 0.01 i can make $162,000 dollers more. So the power price at 0.08 and 0.09 is a good thing for the people who provide it 8)

Calling it a cartel is just stupid. Let them charge whatever prices they want or produce your own power.

Thats is right. Price of power is formed on the market. I can do nothing with it. Current price cuts my profits by about 25% when I compare it to 0,05 price I used to buy it before it raised :D

But that is why I like this game. Changes happen and we all have adapt to them or die :D

The only thing I can do is to build my own power plants. If everyone do so then the price of power will go down....

I never liked the price of .07 power so I built my own power plants at the start so now I am very glad I did. I think that a lot of people that want to rule the world that buy power off the market will start producing their own power. There will be a lot of power produced and the price will take a dive when the big power producers can't keep it up. The guys that want to raise power will discover the "cause and effect" of their actions.

The only effect that will happen is that they start having more money in their pockets.

When other industries are doing great, then the people in it are willing to pay more for their daily power and raw materials, because their production line will continue without major stagnations. Everyone wants to produce as much profit as possible, so when the power producers think that others are making too much of a profit, then they'll raise the price. Of course they'll lose their daily customers and they have to pay market commisions for selling there, but sooner or later people will adapt with the situation and they will have new customers and new business partners. Right now, since most people (read: bigger companies) are willing to pay for .08 power, then everything is all right for producers. If people would have boicotted their power from the start, then the price wouldn't changed. :?

The reason the raise in the price of power was so fast is because the market was ready for this. Almost everyone still made a profit with their products, despite the huge cost of power, and the profit was pretty much the same for everyone.

I definetely don't like what the power producers did with their small "cartel", but sooner or later it was inevitable. :cry:

cartels: not always usefull

I still buy power from the market, I'm confident in the fact that pushing up prices is nearly impossible in the long run, like mentioned before ppl c increasing the price and start building their own plants (it's just too easy to enter the market, build a cheap plant, wait a couple of hours and you can start producing). So elevating prices will chase buyers away which means less demand for more supply (increase of prices means more ppl are willing to sell power at the market), in the short run, (if you have lots of money) you can push the prices a little bit, but in the long run, no way!

Cartels are only effective in markets which are difficult to enter, for example Q6 televisions, if you didn't make any needed research yet it would cost you tons of money to have it done in a week, and in order to make good profit it, you better cease your other productions. So ppl who have established a certain research and machinery for a certain product will generally not choose to change into another market because they achieved a certain level already in their own branche and don't want to reinvest lots of money in a new product, but rather tend to improve their own product more with that money. On the other side, new players who did not yet specialize into anything may choose to go into televisions, but they have a long way to go before producing Q6 (unless they buy very expensive Q-parts at the market which only makes them selling at higher prices, exactly what a cartel wants).
Conclusion:

televisions Q6: new players have to go a long way and wealthy established players have no incentive since the research cost is very high and they could as well invest the money in their own products.
--> good cartel

power: everybody can build it and start producing the same day
--> bad cartel

Well, I don't think you can specify on whether a cartel can be "good" or "bad". I would rather call them "sustainable" and "temporary". Right now, I think we have reason to believe that the current power cartel is sustainable. Why? Because people (including you, Orval) are still willing to buy it from the market and therefore help the cartel to continue. Companies who start producing power won't sell it for less than .07, that's for sure. The supply might increase, but currently the demand is so much bigger. :cry:

I actually have built power plants to keep me going, and I'm saving more than half a million a day! If the price would be .08 forever, than power would eat up 75% of my profit. You can see the problem and that's why I really hate cartels. Thank god I have 3 very nice and reliable power suppliers. :lol:
