In my country they cost only 2-3$ and you can probably find the cheapest at 1$.
I still find smoking to expensive,

The real payment isn't the cash per pack, it's the big balloon payment at the end . . .

Let me ask: What is this thread about?

Is this a purchase thread? There aren't any cigarettes in Kapilands so it isn't a Kapi-product and also in the wrong section.
Is this a suggestion for a new product? There won't be any...if so Nasenprinz will choose what he want's too.
Is it a fun thread? Why isn't it in the General Talking?
Or is it spam? So why isn't it deleted? :D

Sorry for my questions.

Admittedly the line between "General Stuff" and "General Talking" is a very very fine one. I'm reluctant to make the move on such a minor detail but technically you are probably correct.

"Generally" speaking (talking) about something that is really bad for humankind is well worth being on top of the discussion list. I mean who really reads the "General Talking" thread?

We have all heard how smoking kills you slowly and that it affects others health as well. I'm not going to rattle on about the bad things much  .

However, it is interesting that smoking is so addictive. Once you start smoking you find that you don't really like it but if you continue smoking you actually enjoy it more and more. I suppose smoking is better than suicide/murder but only marginally. I am of the opinion that smoking is actually a rebellious habit brought on by not liking the world as it is.

Therefore it is a lack of education that leads to smoking. The world is in a middle age crisis and human kind are still behaving like infants.

Smoking is BAD!...

I will pay 1,600,000 caps for a pack of cigs. Should this thread be moved to Auctions?

It's not education, it's judgement. These days people know full well what the dangers of smoking are. They just value the short-term pleasure more than the long-term effects.

A lack of education will lead to poor judgment. I ask why people start to smoke in the first place.

I have in front of me a cookie. Filled with sugar and fat, it's not very healthy. Good judgement would be to put it away and go jogging. Bad judgement would be to sit here on my fat rump and eat it.

Go ahead, educate me. Tell me something I don't know that will "lead to good judgement."

You can't though. Knowledge is external, judgement is internal. People with free will have to decide their own priorities, and if I value the taste more than the calories, there's no fact you can tell me that's going to change that.
I ask why people start to smoke in the first place.
Because the pleasure of smoking is more real and more valuable to them than the pain of having to quit or getting cancer.

Lets talk about Diet. Your body needs fat and sugar as well as other carbohydrates, protein and vitamins and minerals and water. Without sugar your body will shut down and you will die. Without protein and fat and vitamins and minerals your body wont function normally and you will become deceased.

Don't go jogging without adequate sugar in your blood. You will soon pass out and get taken to the hospital. Without a proper diet your brain will not work properly and you will make poor judgments.

Don't just sit at home and smoke and eat cookies. Find a team sport or go jogging/walking. Get your blood and heart moving. Enjoy life longer by staying healthy. Get a dog to take for a walk.

I play sport to keep fit. I am not overweight. I play sport to meet new friends. I am not lonely. Activity is the best way to stop smoking. Activity and a good diet (including sugar and fat) will let you live a fuller life. Enjoy what you do. Do as much as you can. If I don't eat properly I normally lose at sport.

The first thing you become addicted to (after your mother's milk) is normally sugar found in fruit. We Need Sugar! We Don't Need Smokes.

Typing is not generally considered as physical exercise.
Because the pleasure of smoking is more real and more valuable to them than the pain of having to quit or getting cancer.
I haven't met a person yet who enjoyed their first ciggy. When people have their first ciggy, they are not addicted. So they don't have to quit the habit after one ciggy. Will they get cancer after their first ciggy? Maybe not. There is anough polution in the air to give anybody lung cancer. A fit person probably has a better chance at surviving.

You kind of meandered around there a bit. I assure you I'm not underweight, and I would eat my cookie now but it got tired of waiting so it's already gone. However you've reminded me to go get another. Does that mean you need to "educate" me more?

And for the other half of that I know full well exercise is healthy. It's even a nice night out. But right now, I choose not too.

Ultimately it comes down to personal choices. You can't make someone's decison for them; there's no magic answer that changes their mind.

A few weeks ago I was trying to convince someone (who shall remain nameless) the merits of personal responsibility, that the world is not run by wizards who control your life. But they'd rather chalk up success to luck, not ability. The "benefit" of not feeling responsible for life is more real than the "pain" of what they miss out on. So he chooses not to see it that way, and I can't "educate" him otherwise.

People need education, but that's not all they need.
I haven't met a person yet who enjoyed their first ciggy.
These people you talk to - they started smoking at gunpoint?

Denial, or perhaps forgetfulness. They may not have have enjoyed the taste of it, but I guarantee you they enjoyed the way it made them feel. Not the nicotine I mean, though I'm sure that helped. I mean the cool feeling of rebellion they got from doing it. They way it made them look, and more importantly the way they felt it would make them look.

They picked up the first cigarette all that pleasure was more real than whatever happened to them down the line. And the second and the third for the same reason. If you want people to avoid smoking, start teaching them to value the long run over the short-term.

OK I'm convinced, thread gets moved.

To The Smokers.

The worst part about smoking is purely economic. I like to travel both around Australia and overseas. Travel is relatively expensive. I like to meet people from foreign cultures and enjoy their food and pastimes. If I can save enough money I go on a holiday.

Smoking reduces one's ability to save money. One has less holidays if one smokes. Life is generally more dull if one smokes. The longer one lives the more holidays one has. One has more money if one doesn't smoke.

The decision is up to the individual. Be a burden on society and deny yourself some meandering , or smoke and get less for your time and money.
Does that mean you need to "educate" me more?
Ask and thy shall receive.

But smoking is not just about the sigret you put in your mouth :-)
It's a BIG economy , they'r like the big companies here helping out the smaller ones .
A few examples ( that i lived ! ) :

- A little grocery in a little town with no supermarket near ( you get the picture ) sells sigarets , and because people don't want to travel all the way to the big cities , they buy their smoke there. While they are in the little grocery , they talk a bit with the seller , and then they see the chees he sells ! and guess what ? They buy also the chees ! So just for comming for the sigarets they also bought the chees => bigger profit for the little grocerie

- Lets talk bigger ^^

A siggaret-vendor ( donno how the exact word is , but its a shop where you can buy magazines , tabak , etc ) Now in belgium what im'm going to tell is forbidden , but a few years ago it wasnt :
A thema - shop . The Vendor gets A LOT of money from a siggaret mark ( ex Marlborro ) To 'decorate' his shop with the symbols of that mark ( ex the red triangle :-D ) And doing so , he gets a lot of money from the big company , which he can also invest to make his shop a little more attractive or something.

- Let's talk even bigger !

Francorchamps ! You all heard of the Grand Prix of Francorchamps ( if not it's a shame ! Its a curcuit for F1 vehicules ) , A few years ago , the governement FORBID to make advertisments for sigarets / alcohol on the F1 vehicules , thus losing money . You know what happend ? Francorchamps CLOSED , just cuz the forbid to ad for sigarets :!
( Well , now its solved but still ! )
