Hm, to my knowledge it does not mean the ende of the world, but the end of the 5th world and the beginning of a new one, the 6th world.
We are supposed to enter into an new state of mind, a higher level so to speak, according to the Mayas that is.

there is also some talk (rumours, lol) about the 4th and 5th dimension, but I am not sure what that is about.

There is however an astronomical occurance in 2012 which some people (experts?) think will give a significant change in the electromagnetic fields in our solarsystem which could even result in the shifting of our poles.

(problem about people calling themselves experts: we have no idea who they are, they could be just some raving lunatics dressed in a ballet dress and wearing a rainhat while typing this stuff down, and who are in a severe psychotic fase.)

We will just have to wait untill 2012 to find out...

magnetic pole of the earth is already shifting, other em fields dont affect us much. and yes, the pseudoexperts heh, no need to even spend your breath on them
