UV 101 - Part 4 - What is a slot worth?

Class IV: What is a slot worth?

Depending on the option of a premium membership, each player has either 60 or 100 slots. Since this number is finite, making the most of the slots you have is critical.

Like all things in Kapilands, a slot of worth what you can do with it. Slots are filled with buildings. Buildings can perform three functions: production, retail, or research. While the previous classes have provided some idea of how to assess relative value, the limited number of slots adds new difficulties to comparative value.

Under different circumstances, what is good use of a slot changes. As a company develops, it will generally transition through the same general dynamics.

Very nice write up. I'm currently struggling with this as we speak, so I really appreciate the timing on this one.

I'm also trying to expand my rate expansion! Expanding my steel factories will allow me to come to a consistent state of expansion without purchasing steel on the market.

It cost 75,000c for a new person to build a plantation in green.

They already have 5,000 steel, 10,000 stone, 1000 wood.

So the cost of expantion is around 1,800c (i cant quite remember) so...

20sqm extra costs 36,000c

so... 40sqm plantation costs 101,000c+(3 employees@900c which is 2,700)103,700c

2x20sqm is 150,000c.

so there you go.

expantion is the best way.

Your sig says all.

ok ok sorry...

i'm only new and 13 yrs old

but i mean when you first join kapilands.

i understand producing your raw materials is expensive. atm i think i heard it cost merchants and retailers 35-50caps to make steel.

i think you should expand while you got cheap steel, wood and stones.

just an idea.

You don't want to be expanding any buildings until you have filled all your building slots.

Don't know who told you it only costs 35-50 to make steel for merchants and retailers, but i wouldn't rely on the advise of the guy who told you to much from now on.

Depending on market value of the resourses it can differ from 100 to 150 each and 100 each is a very optimistic level..
The cheap one being iron ore and coal being below 10 each, which isn't happening to often.

You need:
5x coal
2x iron ore
0.5x chems
200x power

coal/ore being 10 each would make 70
Chems are 20 each so that is 10
power is 0.10 on R2 and 0.25 on R1 so its 20 on R2 and 50 on R1.
Production cost 5 or 15 each.

Thus R1 is 135 total which is equal to NPC value.
R2 is around 105 at least with these low market values which tend to go up regularly.

Only thing cheap about being retailer etc is you need less raw materials, but that doesn't matter to much.

Its better to first start building 60 buildings cuz you can build more meters with your raw materials, thus you end up with more production capacity.
