Uggh that came out less than pretty but if you read through the lowest steel price is at the bottom from the NPC. Are these just old offers that were made by mistake? Is there a reason to buy from PC's rather than NPC's (only 6 offers were not Q0)? Or are there that many people who never look at the bottom of the list?

at the top press prices and it will show the cheapest one if its the npc= you buy from them other wise you buy from a pc

I think thats mostly because noone looks at the NPC.
This works both ways. People sell above 135 but there are ones that buy at that price. Or at least it looks so. It's possible that people just cancell the offers over 135 after they realise that noone will buy it.

How's that saying go? A [censored] and his money are long-term best friends?

For a long time I've actually wanted to just put steel on the market at 140, wait for someone to buy it, then send them a message saying "what are you thinking???" Never got around to it.

Thanks all. Just a bit weird that nobody was underselling the NPC when in most resourses almost everyone is undercutting the NPC. Now for my next question, how do I close my thread??

You can edit it and put [closed] in the subject header. Or not. Either way it will sit out here for other people to read if they are curious.

(For the record though, if you'd put "Curious about Steel Prices" or something like that in the subject line, it would be more attractive reading to people who are interested in that sort of thing. We like to encourage specific subject lines.)

And I should also mention that there's no need to undercut steel by more than a 0.01

Ok changed the title. I thought that would be a good caveat for other new guys. That's still a bit bizzare. Nobody was selling under the NPC. Is steel mostly sold on contract then? I'm almost thinking of buying some off of the NPC and reselling it. Probably a bad idea....

Definitely probably a bad idea. No one is going to contract you over 135, and you'd have to sell high enough on market to make up for the 10% fee (151) before seeing any profit.

The reason you don't see steel listed lower than the NPC is that there is the whole reason there is an NPC. There is way more steel bought than produced. So people are used to buying from the NPC and if anything lower shows up it's a bonus to be hopped on.

And even at 135, you're only getting 121.5 after fee. So it's always better to find someone with a standing offer (plenty in the 130-132 range) and sell to them.

Which means yes, most is sold on contract.
