What will happen to Kapilands in 100 years???
i'm just wondering if the earth still existed and we didn't go to another planet or drown in water due to climate change...what will kapilands be like in the future???
-there will be so much inflation that its worse than Zimbawe..someone could spend 2 euros and become billionaires..
-Heaps of Trillionaires popping up and effectvily beating the game (100 building at max expansion) and theyve got no reason to keep playing
-Little companies without coins finding a little hard to contest with bigger companies.
and things like that..
but what will be the solutions to these problems??
-maybe wiping out the whole system and starting again,w hich will cause outroar among bigger companies..
-give more incentives to smaller companies just starting off
- make coins more expensive
thing like that..
i'm sure there are other things in here but i don't know hem t the moment..
but one idea i have that it wn't affect us too much is because players come and go.. in 100 years we would all be dead and our accounts with it.. maybe you might've sold it or gave it to your friend, child or anyone but thats unlikly..
so what do you think will happen to kapilands?? and whats the best way to combat that ?

It will take those who stay till the end about 5 years, then many have quit the game and only a few stay active untill it slowly dies.
At some point the revenues won't be worth and the game probably just dissapears.
No more servers and no more access.
Only thing left will be the thoughts of those who played the game and the screens they posted on youtube/photobucket.
Something like that would sound fairly reasonable possible way on how things will go.

5 years is just a period i'm using.
The succesfull people will be ready expanding their companies by then.
5 years is a long time to play a game, and R1 is already only 2 years.
People get bored because they reached their goals or they just find other things that are more important.
There might be better games and this one could be outdated.
It could be 5 years from now, it could be 10 years from now.
But 10 years is a long time....a VERY long time...
At some point the server just gets empty.
The problem with kapi is companies growing to some end.
Compared to a game like Hattrick, there you need to improve all the time or you just drop in performance.
Your team gets worse without improvement.
Kapi just is much different.
To me Kapi is already a strange game, i'm still playing it after 1.5 years and despite losing interest regularly i manage to stay active easily.
I however lost interest in other games a long time ago, usually within a few months

I have been playing a PC game (I won't say it name cause it's against the rules) for severall years, very similar to kapilands, but it has the possibility to issue shares (stock market), get loans from bank and PC players, don't have any limits on buildings and quality and the possibility to produce more than 300 different products.
So I think that if the programmers expand the possibility to have more than 100 buildings, the possibilty to expand beyond the 32767sqm, to put the bank and stock market working, new complex and profitable products and other kind of improvements the game will go on for severall years, and the big companies will not give up cause they will have more things to do.

i dont agree.
in that case the 'biggies' have 1000 buildings and have giganticly much production, which lead to much money and the 'smallies' got more problems beating em, however the max sqm could be raised to..say 50.000, BUT only when the top10 got at least 30% of these buildings or something liie that

What's your problem with the 'biggies' (it's the 2nd time I see a post from complaining how difficult to beat the 'biggies'), everybody around here started small, some like myself have invested real money on the game by buying coins, to raise Caps to buy bigger buildings and to have VIP account (wich give us the possibility to grow faster), besides some of us have studied the game and have applied some rules of economics to help our companies grow. And I have used also the contests to help me grow faster (an advantage of small companies is that they can produce much more with a 20 sqm building than a bigger one with a 30sqm building), an example is that when I started to have a VIP account, I only used 70 slots for my own business and the other 30 were left to make 30 buildings with 20sqm for a contest (selling those products to the 'biggies' for plenty of cash), and after the constest I sold them and make another 30 with 20 sqm for the next contest till I reach a level that I needed those slots for my own business, so if you are smart you can grow fast.jan1666 wrote:...

Edit: Btw jan1666, I can only thank to the existence of the 'biggies', cause when I started playing this game (on April of 2008) it was them who help me to grow with advices and sometimes by buying my own products, it was companies like 'cash money brothers" (3rd in FA), 'rhino' (4th in FA), 'KVG' (5th in FA), 'Marxer' (13th in FA), 'Halee-Burton' (28th in FA), 'trokur AG' (38th in FA), 'SeoeS' (56th in FA) and many others, so instead of compalining about the existence of those companies why don't ask them their advice and their help, cause I know that all of them will be glad to help the 'smallies' to grow, one of the reason why the majority of those companies are in the TiB-FT.

A "persistent" game is supposed to find equilibrium. Bored players quitting is no problem if players at all lower levels are still advancing. However, most persistent games don't reach equilibrium. They close if out-competed by other games, or reset if their economies overflow reasonable mathematical bounds. I don't know about Realm 1, but Realm 2 is far from equilibrium, as shown by the fact that the 40th position in fixed assets grows every week.Ronintje wrote:It will take those who stay till the end about 5 years, then many have quit the game and only a few stay active untill it slowly dies.
Ronintje's billionaire-centric notion that old players quitting will doom the game is wrong. New players not liking their prospects could doom the game.

Jan1666: A message to you, my friend...
Although the 'smallies' are racing to 'beat' the 'biggies', I think you'll find that most 'biggies' are happy to help you to do it.
Most people I've met with larger companies, have more to offer and are, in general, more happy to share.
To keep everyone in the same league, would mean everyone would be about the same level all the time, then the race would be a real slugathon.
Extremes are needed to encourage.
Regarding Kapilands in 100 years:
That would be entirely dependant on the players, I think. As more new features are added over time, more people will play. As the veterans lean off towards their pensions, new companies will take their place.
Inflation will work its way back down. Then the cycle will start all over again.
KAPILANDS WILL NEVER DIE! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!

Whats billionaire-centric about my opinion???Straw Man wrote:A "persistent" game is supposed to find equilibrium. Those who are active will reach maximum size within 5 years easily, those who aren't active......well, they aren't active so how can they keep the game alive????
And who would start in R1 when he can be top player in R3 should it start?
The mere fact you are here is proving my point, you aren't active in R1 but R2, why don't you spend your time on R1 instead??
Or is it just other people who should do that to keep the game alive and not you??
It's funny to see your anger about me and others being billionaire and your referral to the things these experienced players write as being only the view of billionaires/tycoons and having nothing to do with the game.

omgsh that sounds like a perfect economy game... tell its name please thru pm or igm.. i wanna check it out..never knew there were other game like thisSiberianTiger wrote:I have been playing a PC game (I won't say it name cause it's against the rules) for severall years, very similar to kapilands, but it has the possibility to issue shares (stock market), get loans from bank and PC players, don't have any limits on buildings and quality and the possibility to produce more than 300 different products.

You said the game will die when 5 year players (billionaires) start quitting.Ronintje wrote:Whats billionaire-centric about my opinion???Straw Man wrote:...Ronintje wrote:It will take those who stay till the end about 5 years, then many have quit the game and only a few stay active untill it slowly dies.

That's a fair point. If KL keeps opening new realms, then they are essentially running 5 year rounds. I already play a lot of round games and joined KL because it's supposed to be persistent.Ronintje wrote:And who would start in R1 when he can be top player in R3 should it start?

I'm not angry about players being billionaires. I've won round games in space, feudal and business themes. I want KL to be persistent so I can measure success by gradually climbing the standings.Ronintje wrote:It's funny to see your anger about me and others being billionaire and your referral to the things these experienced players write as being only the view of billionaires/tycoons and having nothing to do with the game.
I don't like billionaires being over-represented in the forum. However, they may be more important to KL than I first assumed. If cash flow trapped billionaires are the end market for most coins, then maybe they should have their needs catered to, for the survival of the game.

Well, i don't consider that billionair centric.Straw Man wrote:You said the game will die when 5 year players (billionaires) start quitting.
It's a mere fact most people will end up Billionaire sooner or later.
Those who quit won't be Billionaire, they will be of higher level with fixed assets a lot over 25B.
I joined it to have a look at what might be a nice and funny game.Straw Man wrote:If KL keeps opening new realms, then they are essentially running 5 year rounds. I already play a lot of round games and joined KL because it's supposed to be persistent.
I stayed cuz it was nice, i didn't need to stay online 24/7 like several other round based games and cuz i could get the bonus features without spending real life cash but buying it using ingame cash
You can climb the ladder anyway.Straw Man wrote:I'm not angry about players being billionaires. I've won round games in space, feudal and business themes. I want KL to be persistent so I can measure success by gradually climbing the standings.
I started late, never bought coins and nowadays i'm getting closer and closer to top rankings.
I set myself a long term goal some time ago and i'll try to reach that at some point.
At first it was climbing the ranks from my p1000+ to get near top 100.
Now i got another interest.
The good part is i can take a break for a few months and continue without my account being ravaged due to attacks.
The previous game (Travian) wasn't really something you could take a break easily without your account being destroyed
Despite, 5 years the same game is a long time to me, i hardly ever manage to stay for more then 1 year when i find a game
Also, R1 is already running for 2 years so 5 years from now it will be 7 years into the game.
Maybe it will be 3 more making it 10 years.
But come on, 10 years of playing a single game....thats a LONG time....
I can't imagine no better games being available or me having some RL changes which make me forget the game.
I just can't imagine a game lasting that long, which made me think a random guess of 5 years from now this game being near dead might be a reaonable guess.
But hey, i'm no fortune teller
The reason for the over-representation might be R1 being a realm loaded with them already.Straw Man wrote:I don't like billionaires being over-represented in the forum.
The forum is mostly visited by more active people and those active people will be billionaire when they play R1.
Those guys/girls also often have an account on R2, so many of the active R2 members still are billionaire in the forum due to their R1 activities.
Its surely not the admins who try to benefit the big guys, its more the big guys having the strenght to be of big influence to the economy ingame.
The only thing you can do about that is never stop checking your profits and try doing the thing thats making the most money to catch up as much as possible.
I do know 1 thing.
I'm spending way to much time writing in these forums during the recent weeks
