Bug?

Post by Guest » 09.06.2008, 12:08

One of my biger customers has tested, and he says it's more profitable for him to sell the LOWER quality in his shop, when calculating with the COMMON +1/quality. (He has full adds).

Asuming he has calculated corect, then is the question - Is it worth spending money on research and/or buying higher quality raw material?
And if ir isn't worth that, then it's a "bug", I suppouse, because why having Research Centers in the game otherwice? ;-)

Hello.

Well... I would not call this a bug.
You have to think about many, many things...
Size and location of that store, kind of product, amount, stats (average price, average quality, supply and demand), time... I'm not sure if I got everything. ;)

In order to ask your question: Researching can be profitable if you do it "correctly" and constantly enough. ;)

But NOT much to think about, because what you wrote are the SAME for the compared qualities, aren't they (?).

Reserach don't have interesting profit, if customers don't want to pay enough extra to make it interesting... ;-)

Research is the key to increase your competitiveness. Take a simple example. You are selling oil to your customer, normally he will buy like 35+Q, then research earn you better profit.
Also for selling store. If your product is of far lower quality, you will find difficulty in selling them.
For your question, I think two possible reasons account for that:
1. Selling in different time, place or size of store
2. Your friend may buy some raw materials from market to carry out production. That means it may increase its cost, finally lowering his profit.

p1/ Yes, I know, but the difference is SMALL according to my customer, so higher quality ISN'T worth much extra for him, so I get comparingly BAD result of research/higher raw material costs. So if developers have ment it to be good, then it's a "bug".

p2/ What?? HE is MY customer, and he just find higher quality worth SLIGHTLY more, after he made tests selling higher quality...
