hired scientist doesn't work

I started a game recently and have one researchcenter. Yesterday i hired one additional scientist but the required time for research doesn't alter. It still takes 72 minutes to complete a level 1 and 240 minutes (4 hr) to complete researching a level 2.
Did i miscomprehend or is this a bug?

with one scientist it takes 96/432 minutes
with 2 scientists it takes 72/240 minutes
