160k daily and still trying to produce more heheheVarg AB wrote:well no one says u cant become a toothpaste giant, you can still be totally independent and do what u like.
I am lucky toothpastes don't use any power and use a little amount of water to produce
But I understand the need to stop this rise of the price of power.
I myself have some small mines and plantations to produce stones and wood for myself to expand. With the rise of the price of power and water, I am getting more and more problem to balance my supply of power and water.
I can hardly imagine the huge problem that some players have, especially who produce hundreds of thousands of wood and mines products like stones, coals, iron ore, minerals, and gold daily. One gold need 850 power for crying out loud

dont worry suppliers inc.
power prices at an avg of 0.15+ will definitely provide incentives for people to make power instead. e.g oil producers, they got crappy prices for oil right now, so its likely they'll change to selling water (0.1power for water and 100power for 1 oil) and sell off surplus power to take advantage of the recent price boom. Water/power boom will not last for too long.

Dear Capitalis,
You do realize that the whole reason why the power market went crazy is because of the wood market. All of the sudden a large player (I don't want to name names) decided to sell off all of his plantations and just start buying wood. This soaked up all of the available surplus wood and created a price war. The big guys started upping their buy price of wood and suddenly their was a lot more demand, pushing prices up. Consequentially, everyone who was buying wood off the market to expand had to pay a lot more ( it jumped from about 38 to 55 or 45%) The other raw material markets followed suit and raised their prices as well.
So, you had the opportunity to see real life economics happen in a game. Look up Prices and Quantities on wikipedia if you want to see the math behind what happened. Or, you could just wait until the market finds Economic Equilibrium (another term findable on wikipedia)
So in short, Power was not the cause of this inflation, it is just the material that has taken the longest to equalize.

i feel part of the reason raw materials prices go up is this:
the big companies are experiencing a boom right now. they're expanding at breakneck speed. 3months back when i first started playing, there wasnt even a billionaire. now almost the entire first page in the stats page are billionaires!
smaller companies can't keep up with the demand for raw materials. and not enough new players are joining the game to provide more raw materials. therefore the prices increase.

The boom is over, took less than the 2wks i predicted.
Water has hit new lows at 0.11
Power has lost more than 80% of its avg peak price (0.16), now down to 0.13
Stones has also dropped to fresh lows of 12.5 (avging in the 13s)
However, it isnt quite certain whether wood prices will fall in the short term even if water/power prices have fallen, although i am speculating that wood prices may take a dip to 51 or 52c.
For newbies who took bites out of the boom and are now disappointed with the decrease in prices. I would suggest you guys looking at my other threads which mentioned an industry that may experience an upswing due to the fall of the power/water market.

If I need 100k of power (I use about 35mil per day) I will buy 100k of power from the market. I've been very busy lately but every now and then I walk past my computer and login to keep up with my finished expansion. I don't have time to chase 100k of power even if it's 18 caps a piece.there will always be new comers trying to buy 100 000 power at 0.18 each
Call me a new comer if you like but I will never have enough power because I am still expanding. I only have 9 PoWeR StAtIoNs
Power is the least of my problems. It's still cheap compared to other products. Now wood is an interesting market. Nobody really knows what is a good price. There are a lot of small amounts on the market and Q0 wood is priced way over Q1-Q3. Still it is cheap compared to steel(NPC). We don't need that much of it compared to stone and steel.
I'm buying as much wood Q0-Q3 as I can while the market price is under the NPC price for wood. If someone starts selling higher Q cheaper I will expand with higher Q wood.

The prices didn't go back down. It was only temporary. I make my own wood, I make my own water and I make my own stones. I buy power only when it gets cheaper for a few days supply.
Those high prices are good for the future of kapilands.
Lots of begginer layers will buy power plants and expand them. As soon as they expand their power plants they won't just sell it to the system. If they will they'll sell them to other players. Either way we will have more power plants and more power.
Imagine what would happen if demand of power would be even 105% of the supply. After a while we would have to buy power from vendor for 0,27 (or do lots of camping on the marketplace). Not a good option for me.
Power is easy to make so it should be easy to get. Those prices will only make power production more popular.
