Unfortunately some team members have got problems to find the time for unlimited support.
We all work as good as we can to keep this version up to date... but as we have got a real life, too, we hope that you have got at least a little understanding for this.
Please keep in mind: All members of the team do their work for free! They don't get real money for this! It's a hobby for them... and I guess Kapilands is a hobby for you, too.
The articles for the KapiTimes no. 26 are ready. They just need to be put into the layout and then be uploaded. Yet this is done by our editor in charge who hasn't been online for a few days.
I personally regret that we haven't been able to present you a KapiTimes yesterday... but I hope that we can upload it as soon as possible.
Sorry for your bad mood - but please: Try to understand that real life should have priority. And don't forget that everyone here does his or her work for fun. No one gets money for this (I just point this out because I can imagine people complaining about the Kapi-team's work without be aware of this point.).

Thank you for your reply GoldenEye and I take on board your point about 'members of the team' being unpaid...but one has to ask WHY are they not paid? when so many of the players pay a lot of 'real money' to play and support this game.GoldenEye wrote:Unfortunately some team members have got problems to find the time for unlimited support.

Yes I am sure, like myself, that this game is a 'hobby' but that is the same for any game one plays, if I went out and bought software to play any game I would expect the game to continue working in the way it did when I bought it, if it stopped working I would contact the company and complain and maybe ask for my money back.
I think, on the whole, that Kapiland players are a very understanding bunch of people, who are very willing to 'make allowances' for problems in the game and errors that are made. However, communicating with the Kapilanders, should always be a top priority and problems (like the newspaper not being published on time) should be comunicated before not after the event.
I think the guy who 'gets all the dosh' from his faithfull game players, should have something to say about all this.
If there was no 'real world' money involved in this game, then fine, no problem...if people did not like how things were they could just stop playing and go and find another game to play...however, this is not the case here and I believe when 'people pay' then 'people should have a say'!
I would like to thank you GoldenEye for what you and all the other unpaid members of the team do and let you know that you are much appriecated!!
This is a 'beef with the kapi-bosses' it's a message to say please, please get something done, pay your admins...recruit more...keep improving the game...we keep hearing how wonderfull the German version is...we want to be able to say the same about the English version!!!
This for a lot of players is a 'paid for game' having a premium account should be about more than just having an advert free gaming window...
...we support you 'Kapi-bosses' ...the least you could do is listen to us!

/agreed. Things are progressively declining. I don't need to point out the mistakes that have been made recently or mod response time or anything. There are plenty of people that would gladly step up to assist. I know it costs to run games like this.. i.e. servers etc but as much money that is made off coins there is no reason that one full time admin can't be hired who can do contests, run the newspaper and chase cheaters. Contests are a HUGE part of kapilands and you don't just end them early and call them late cause one person decided it wasn't important to them that day to pay attention.Caz wrote:This for a lot of players is a 'paid for game' having a premium account should be about more than just having an advert free gaming window...

No need to point out that I agree completely with TipTop and Syl respectevly, but as a paying memeber I find it irritating most that no one bothered to spend at least 5 coins in a fax and tell us members that the contest and newspaper were not to be published for more than 24 hours than they should have!!!!!
At least last edition was late but Kapitycoon used the fax to inform us about a delay, but nothing is a bit too much in my opinion

I won't respond to this too much, as others can probably speak more directly than I. But I did want to add in a thing or two.
I think the real issue is not a simple one of manpower, but rather a division-of-skills problem. Modding a board is one thing, it's just deleting spam posts, messaging users about behavior, altering auction posts etc. Even someone like me can do it.
But to make changes in things that affect the game requires a combination of skills:
I can't dispute the nature of what any of you are saying. Customers deserve service. I just wanted to say that it's not as easy as it may seem to solve whatever items do pop up.

- Ability to speak English to communicate with the users.
- Ability to speak German to understand the infrastructure behind the game.
- Knowledge of technology and database skills in general.
- Knowledge of conventions, code, and DB layouts here in general.
- Proximity to the actual servers in German
