Built-in auction system
Just a thought, though not a simple one, for a future version of the game.
It would be nice to have a binding auction system built in to the game. The forums provide a reasonable proxy, but as we've seen complications can arise if they're so loosely handled. Being able to deal with auctions directly in game would be a very nice addition.

yep, strict auction system would be nice.
To prevent fake bids a cash security deposit would be required in amount of say 20% of the bid. If the bidder does not want to fullfill its obligation it simply loses the security deposit (where the money should go is another question). This way you cannot make fake bids and at the same time you cannot go bankrupt.
But I agree this is not likely to be implemented.

That would be quite good. And the money can go to the poor!
Surely the money should go to the supplier who lost out on the sale as they now have to re-auction (there would most likely be a charge to list the goods in the first place) and this would cause a delay in getting a return on their products.
I think it would be a good idea as it would open up the auction process and involve more people

If this was implemented it could be like on some other games ive played. And like Drvic enterprises said you make a bid and then your money is taken and put in holding. You either get you money back when you are out bid or you get the items when the auction is finished.
To the argument that an auction could bankrupt you well so can the market if you dont be careful thus its not really a valid argument.

I think an auction system would be great.
Maybe you could split it into 2 types of auctioning: products put at the auction that have 24hrs to be sold to highest bidder, and similar to the ebay style of having a buy-it-now if the seller so wishes.
it would be especially interesting for sellers who put the weekly competition products at auction.
maybe 2-5% of final selling price could go to the system (less than the market, but more than simply selling as a contract).
otherwise, everyone would inevitably go to auction their products and few contracts would be used.
I am all for an auction system though, and think that out of all the other ideas/proposals, it could be one of the best. (along with cleaner ways to produce things).
