yes, he is right... the experience of the German versions having a security code show this...warship45 wrote:i say agin that even if you use a pic the bot can check it you would have to have unlimited pic's for it to work or the bot would be able to check them and after about 42 hours of looking for them would have all of the pics. that would not work, that is the same as having codes but even easyer for bots to get past because it is not having to checks lots of diffrent bitmaps.

lol i dont think any of the above are suitable..
In my experience bots that come onto forum slike these are relatively simple ones.. sole intention just to send spam to advertise something, these are not complex things as there is not enough gain for the programmer..
On other forums the bots have been stopped by adding a tick box on signup that reads:
Its simple, easy to implement, its not confusing, and it works!
Other methods incldue sending an email to the register account and asking them to click the link in the conformation email, altho this requires a little more work than my previous suggestion, it does work.
Id just like to say that having been on 3 forums similar in size and type as this one who have all had bots, the first method was successful in preventing the bots.

Then there is a check box for yes and one for no. The defualt is set to 'NO' so the user has to manually select 'YES' to proceed with registration. Of course if regsitration is attempted without sleceting yes a error emssage will occur and tell the user to fully complete the form.'Are you human?' (yes, u need to answer this, its to stop the bots)
