Is the game dead?

Post by Guest » 30.11.2011, 08:50

I just returned from a 2 year break and there seems to be no one online lol.

I came back from an 8 month break a couple of weeks ago and it seems to have slowed down a lot.

I think this is plainly because people are getting bored with the same industries making the most profit.

Yeah that was a big problem already 2 years ago, everyone can just buy wood&steel from npc for The Industry, and it makes the game boring. Thats why for example i deliberately chose to produce perfumes :)

I know what you mean - I recently had a very reliable supplier drop out, and it is very difficult buying the buildings I need at the moment.

Is R2 busier?

I was reading through the forum announcements and the development team seemed to be pursuing other projects instead of enhancing this one.

For starters, they need to improve the GUI and overhaul some balance issues.

I stopped for a long time and got back again. Game is not as dead its just people don't like posting anymore. Actually if you look at the Fax office at R2 you will noticed how lively it is.

Its hard to get a true feel for how many are playing but its rare if all prizes in the contests aren't won, so there's at least 100 people playing each realm and plenty of companies that just don't take an interest in the contests anyway so don't enter the contests at all.

As for the fax situation, some people have nothing better to do, you would have to be pretty childish and petty to constantly berate via fax and change your company name to get you point across, at least your faxes have some content relating to the game other faxes just look like rants of a madman.

That's true I do see a good number of people playing the contest. I just think people are either shy or just don't want to let people know that they are still playing. When I was not that active I still visited once in a blue moon or at least check the forum.

- Thank god the fax is now fix (Well almost) LOL.....

Don't judge the game by the forums. There have been talks about the forum being dead ever since I started 2-3 years ago (can't remember how long it's been anymore). I think every topic possible have been debated before so no one who actually use these forums will bring them up again.

I can only speak for myself when it comes to Realm 2. I focus my self-servant business on shops and selling cotton to 1 buyer, so I will most often come across as abscent.
...and since I've kept to myself for so long I have no idea what others are doing.

It's a pity if the game died altogether. I hope I'll rule the sausage market more than I already do before that happens. 100% market shares in Turkey, Oman & Saudi Arabia.

The game is not dead...its a laid back game that you can play in such a way that you only log in once a month depending on what you do. I know players that log in once every two weeks..dump their manufactured goods and then log in again two weeks later...and they dont even bother about contests.

then there are those that log in once a day and are active in the game. I sometimes find myself wishing that something MORE would happen but this is the nature and style of the game.

the forums are dead simply coz they restrict the topic of conversation to the game. and like someone said EVERY subject in the game has by now been covered in FULL. If there were other topics for example a joke section etc then the forums would become MORE lively and players would become more active in the forums coz of the extra value.

Only new players would buy advertisments,
once they´ve figured out what they´re good for.
I notice I am not selling many ads.

Maybe the ads should wear of, so the players must buy new ads, or producethem, like in real life.
Say, 1000 ads a week vanishing.

Also, I´d like there to be taxes :)

I used to be the first category, I'd log in to the game only once every week to check for messages, if messages didn't get erased after 7 days I'd probably only have logged in once every two weeks.
I produce stones and oil, both of those can have productions set for 2 weeks and then I won't have to log in to reset the production for a while.

Nowadays I log in pretty much daily, not because I changed industries, but because of my KapiTimes side-job. :P
That doesn't really help with market activity I suppose, as I still set my production for 1 or 2 weeks (usually 1 week lately)

I'd say "dead" is a big word, there's still plenty people posting daily, some days we'd get 10 people complaining on how the forum was dead, I guess they couldn't see the fact that if those 10 posts had an actual subject, it wouldn't be so "dead" at all.
Of course you're right about the fact that a lot of the game related subjects have already been discussed so much, that new topics around these game related subjects rarely appear.

The most active sections of the forum are those that aren't affected by that issue, and those are the trading sections. :)

Well there are several boards for this, for example there's the "Board games" section, and there is the off-topic area, but since that doesn't count towards the postcount anymore, people stopped posting there, because apparently a number below the avatar is more important than friendly conversation.

Upjers press release for stock investors hints at a possible closure of Kapilands in the near future. Dramatic deterioration of net revenue from this particular game seems to be the issue at hand. But they will continue other forms of browser games they have :)
