Reverse Contracts

I know out of the gate this won't be implemented (for several technical reasons, plus every time I suggest something I get told how stupid I am for bringing it up) - but I wanted to have the conversation because it would really help make the game a better experience.

The idea is to allow 'reverse contracts' (that is, instead of 'sending items to a buyer and they send you money - the buyer sends you money and a request for Items of a given quality (or any)).

This would greatly simplify the tedious task of sorting through inboxes and responding to offers; it would also allow players to be more agressive and rapid in their pace of play.

The purpose of the game is not to 'make someone sit at Kapi.com and read as many ads as possible' it's to 'create a fun experience that players willingly choose to engage in - and the net profit for upjers.'

As I said up front, I know this won't be implemented - but I understand a new version of the game is in the works, and wanted to bring it up to see what others thought.

Nice Idea, but you can just pm the player asking for the product...

Yes, but that wastes the player I am trying to buy from's time. If I could send him "money" in exchange for goods, he would need only "sign on the dotted line" and the stuff would come straight out of inventory. Much more elegant.

Reverse Contracts (and similar ideas)

I enjoy reading people's ideas about, in this instance, reverse contracts. What is different between this game and many others - and this is where it really stands out - is the reality factor in it. In reality, i.e. in the real business world, nobody will send you money before at least a contract has been signed by both parties. Also this won't happen the first time round. In order for the supplier to receive some pre-payment, and this is normally a certain percentage of the full amount, one needs to have an established business relationship where the required trust has been build over time.

Moving further away from reality would significantly change what Kapilands is and stands for. It would become 'just another' fantasy game. I don't have anything against fantasy games at all. In my eyes at least they have their place and validity as long as they are ethical. What makes Kapilands so interesting for me personally is, for example, that I, who has been a manager in a real company and has many years of experience in the business world, can still learn something from playing it. It comes in many areas close to the complexity of the real business world. Though, for example, the risks, especially for setting up a business, are in reality much higher. But therefore it is also more fun to play Kapilands than doing it in the real world.
