Well just putting this out there, there are claims that the gas etc wouldn't clog up the engines anymore. In the initial enruption yes, but by now it's clear they say. For example there are 2 airlines who have flown empty passenger aircraft from one destination to the other in an otherwise "no fly" zone and they had no problems at all.Opus wrote:How is it Iceland's fault? What do you expect them to do? Fly a helicopter over the volcano with a really big cork and plug the hole?![]()
The volcanic dust can and will clog up the commercial airline engines. The airlines are not only keeping people safe, but they are avoiding huge negligence lawsuits as well.
Just saying.
Unfortunately, that's all subjective information. One of my first jobs after school was working on a flight line, maintaining planes. I'm still an aviation enthusiast 20 years later, and my A&P colleagues seem to agree with me as far as what the dust could do.felixbluindustries wrote:Well just putting this out there, there are claims that the gas etc wouldn't clog up the engines anymore. With that aside though, my main emphasis was the nonsensical notion that Iceland was liable for this incident.
It would be kinda stupid to start accusing Iceland they caused such major problems throughout Europe with the eruption of that ( unpronouncebale ) volcano. It's not like they can control when it'll "barf" all over this continent or not. Nature is quite unpredictable and it'll always catch us be surprise, no doubt about it
.
By the way: who can spell the name of the Icelandic volcano without stammering?
