I know, I am from Holland. 
A friend of mine said "that's not volcanic ash, they're probably burning up all the cash they were supposed to pay us"
But if a country is bankrupt, it's difficult to pay debts. you can't pluck a bald chicken
And I don't think the government of Iceland pressed the "Erupt Eyjafjallaj

How is it Iceland's fault? What do you expect them to do? Fly a helicopter over the volcano with a really big cork and plug the hole?
The volcanic dust can and will clog up the commercial airline engines. The airlines are not only keeping people safe, but they are avoiding huge negligence lawsuits as well.
