Post by Guest » 04.05.2007, 19:33

Hey in the forums its realy annoying to have like 3 pages of up post or edited by tycoon and stuf. There should be a way to removed messages (of course not in auction but) so you dont get annoying ***crap*** in the forums threads thanks

If the users can remove their own posts in the trade threads, this will automatically lead (not will, but may) to lots of argues... nobody can be sure how a thread has been changed... imagine the contest products: somebody writes, that he pays e.g. 100 per unit for a contest product... 2 hours later the first players are complaining that the buyer does not accept the contracts, as prices changed in the meantime...

In such cases the mods will react and do something against such a behaviour. They cannot, however, help in such cases, if there are posts deleted and nobody knows about it...

And this is not only the case in trade threads... thinks of maybe insults in the forum... somebody accuses someone to be a cheater, just for fun... no mod is there to read it and half an hour later this thread is being deleted: some users already have read this... and if the "cheater" wants us to interfere, we cannot do anything on this...

And one more thing:
We also do not want you to delete our posts... just stick to the rules, then we do not have to remind you of not pushing your threads too often...

Your suggestion goes even one step further: you do not just want to delete your own post, but even those of other users....

I cannot imagine that there is a forum which allows such acitivities by "normal" users...
and we won't change it here...

If you have a reason for a post to be deleted, get in contact with us, we will try to help

well, thats not what im thinking its that you could only removed a message in your thread that you made, such as up... and so on and so forth still nothing changes in the auction, and to the fact that you could insult somebody and then removed it, well first thats not very smart ( small amount of people would see it) and 2 say they do insult or what ever then removed it and somebody complains the insult would be in your logs already and ya

Maybe its be a bit of trouble but it would improved the quality of the forums

The problem is, if you are able to remove up-posts, then you are also able to remove anything else in your thread... I do not want to say, that every user will make it... but there will be users who do, and this is the reason, that we won*t change it....

Also you guys didn't make the forum software yourself, so you're limited by what it can do.

However, if it's possible this might help: What if editing a post gave it a new timestamp and moved it to the top of the list? That way people wouldn't need to make long threads bumping the post, they could just edit, submit, and have that do the same thing.

I do like that idea.

I have done similer things on phpBB forums I run/have run. It is rather easy to change the forum 'Default sort key' to an edit function.

I have seen this on other forums, and everyone will know if you change something in an old thread too.

great proposal...
up posts are only allowed once in 24 hrs, in order to have some fairness between the companies... and now we implement just a button, so that up posts are pushed even faster and nobody will be able to see, when and how often this button is being pushed...

put a delay on it that you can only click the botton every 24h

actually onceu click the button it gets somethin like into a shadow meaning u cant click it for 24 hrs and after 24 hrs the button can be clicked

of course i noe phpbb doesnt have these things but maybe u cud ask some PC pro to make a forum for u of ur own choice with ur own type of theme
