Helping beginners

Post by Guest » 09.07.2010, 21:44

I read an old (relatively speaking) thread a while ago where someone wanted to help "newbies" in form of info here on the forums. I would like to take it one step further.

Is there a way, or can there be a way, in-game, where we can search for new players to sort of help them by buying their products?

Like for instance, the Stat page. It shows all sorts of things but not a list of ranked players according to level. If we had a level list it would be easier to locate new players and in doing so, see if they have market offers going. As it is now, I sometimes check a companys info to see what stage they're at. I would rather put my money in the pockets of a beginner (as long as items are not completely overpriced) than in the pockets of an already wealthy person.

Just a thought.

Go to ranking => FA and go down few pages (untill they are newbie anough for you :D)
and then check their market offers, and buy as much as you wish.
Btw, In realm 2 there's one named IL_S, feel free to buy everything he got

Clicking that much will hurt my arm even more...
I'd prefer a nice little list where you can choose different levels and view the people with those levels - like in Molehill Empire. 8)

I don't know whether that is possible, but I can certainly pass it on to our programmers!

There is a "bypass" for the meantime. :)

Just chose the stats you are keen on (like FA or cash), then click on "next" at the bottom of the page. Then you can see "start=40" in the URL-line of your browser. Just change that number ("40") to a higher number, like 2000. Click on "enter" to follow the new link. You can see then the places 2001 and following.
You can save a lot clicking by that.

But don't forget to check the last time they logged in, as the company might be abandoned long ago, and you'll waste money for no reason :)

Thanks for the tip, GoldenEye. Never thought of that. :D

I like the idea of having an easier way to spot a new player offer in the market place.
I too prefer to put my money into the pocket of a newer player...

Perhaps even if it was just an asterix next to their name, with the key shoved somewhere on the page.

Or perhaps a mini-market sub-page, (if you REALLY wanted to make something of it) with offers only displayed by players at say, small businessman level or less.

The major problem would be, that the majority of players seem to want to buy from big, well established players, with the hopes of regular contract agreements... This could end up almost disadvantaging new players... or could it?

I don't think a separate market would be a good idea. Like you said, it could alienate them and we wouldn't want that.
Can't think of anything else though. So far I've been viewing some markets (like stones and power) to weed out the big companies in favour of small ones.

Perhaps, like I said, a small asterix, or a period point, beside the name, or product price?

People looking for it would notice, people not looking for it, most probably wouldn't.
