But as you say, the key word you use was "Quality". And since people aren't (at least for now) concerned about that, hence price war. And since there is so many players doing the same thing hence, price war again. As for raw material, worst still, there is no Q to play with. So its the game of who sell it off first.
Your assumption was correct if we are talking about niche market. Probably that was the case early of the game, or if you are doing something that only have less then 5% of the total player doing, then its easier to control the price. What (prob. water, power, gas, oil) are facing now its like having a union for plastics makers around the world, or even rice maker. I mean, how can you convince a 1st whole countries to sell the same price as a 3rd world (or vice versa - back to their respective place). It back to survival then and even better, just build ur own gas station or capitalize on the low price for your bigger gains
