Random traders?...(spoiler)

I am a newbie ok
I started and within the first 5minuites i got a trader
asking me if i wanted to buy 500 banananas at 0.1 from a company?

I accepted

Is this type of thing common?

This is a random system event. I think everybody gets this message, so it is very common. I put the words "spoiler" to the title, because other players may not want to be informed about random system events in the forum.
