ALL POWER SUPPLYERS please read this tread :)

Post by Guest » 16.08.2007, 00:42

Dear all power suppliers, i have two ideas that will help raise the power price by 0.01 to 0.04 or more :!:

my first idea is:

1) Stop sending power to market or any consumers for a week
all we have to do is stop, just for a week or even less, then consumers will have to dry up the market, then we can start sending power to suppliers again for a higher prices :)

my second idea is

2) pull our wares out of the market
everyone pull their wares out of the market place,E.G. say we all pull our wares out of the market, then the price will skyrocket becuz there will be so little power left, then we put our wares backinto the market at a higher price :)

I would like some feedback to this message and if most of the power suppliers agree then we can set a time to do one of the two and we can make allot more money.

(P.S. if you have anny questions igm me, my company name is below)

The only people such a boycott would hurt are the power suppliers. They lose a week's worth of revenue which will cause a bunch of other companies to start producing power since the price rose. This will in turn cause all the power suppliers who were boycotting to come back into the market since the price is now a bit higher. This of course would drive the price back down due to an abundance of supply (with no corresponding increase in demand!) to a point that could easily be below today's market or contract price. If you are a power producer this idea is horrible.

All this of course could never work because you just won't be able to convince the bulk of the power suppliers to join your boycott because of rising prices.

Why do you want to raise the price of power anyway? There are much, much better ways to make money than power. Cheap power makes a whole lot of other industries more profitable, just like in real life.

Say, you did this. First of all nobody joins you. lets take a example:

selling 1000000 power at 0.08 price now per day makes you 80000 a day

making you 560000 a week.

So youd lose that amount. But your succesful at driving the prices up 0.02c so you start sellling again. making you 100000 a a day. giving you 700000c a week.

560000
- 700000
---------------
240000

Extra but you losed 560000 sod you still be in the hole for 2.33 weeks witch is a long time in kapilands. and by this time the price would go down again cause of a sudden flux of power when they all come back there will be to much and the market prices go down.

There is not much more to add.

1. You never get all power suppliers to act as one and do as you like.
2. That hits all companies, but it hurts the power suppliers most.

The only thing that could raise the price would be a contest with ads or something that uses much power to produce. Because then the demand would rise. Otherwise it

Although I like the idea. I liked it when that water dude was saying "I'm going to change the face of the water market forever and ever" - like that happened!!

I would say that your ideas would work but only once or twice every few months. If you can somehow get the big producers off the market for a wk or so. Prices will go up. Sure, we all know that high prices will encourage other companies to produce supply, but its unlikely that they will be able to achieve market equilibrium in a short period of time. During which, you guys can flood the market with higher prices and take advantage of that flaw. But as everyone will tell you, its not going to work in the long run. There is absolutely no barrier to entry for any industry in this game, cant really monopolise anything...

i had a felling that not all the power producers would do this, and thats why i know that it wont work, but i wanted to see if i had enuf positive feedback then i would try it. another thing is that we hold the power (no pun intended) almost everything in kapilands if not everything needs power and company's with 60 or 100 buildings could not afford to have power plants of there own and would haft to buy the power so i agree with you guys that it wont work because every power suppler wont stop putting there power on the market, i am just saying that in theory it would work

Total S.A.

You're forgetting about non-power producers who are sometimes bored and refresh the market page instead of the forum one  Flood the market all you like 0.02 below market price, and I'll be happy to buy it and put it right back on the market with a 0.01 profit for me. It doesn't make much money, but it's fun and feels like a cross between auctions and a garage sale... it kills time just as good as a freecell or miner too; and when all your production units are busy producing anyway, it's not like much can be done with the lill extra change laying around
A lot of people seem to be doing this, more or less any time of the day; I often see products below market price snatched within 2 to 5 seconds, then within the next half minute, the same exact quantity of the same product show up again but at a price more in the market range.

Oh, and if you're actually going to throw your money out the windows, send me a PM first with the date and time you'll do it, so I can stand under them and catch everything

yeh soul system is right
the equilibrium price for power is around 0.09 and 0.1 since you cant arbitrate the prices and take advantage of price flaws.

just as good as a freecell or miner
You're wrong Total S.A...

Freecell is much more enjoyable than buying power and profiting 0.01 caps per unit. As far a miner goes, there isn't even a contest. I suppose you don't spend nearly enough time to really appreciate quality. :P

First, my name isn't Total S.A. (I was just being nice and mentioning whom I quote =)

Also, I don't care for freecell, really, but I absolutely love miner. The game principle anyway, but not the ugly looking program in windows. The guys over at [an educative website for kids that have games to train and sharpen your memory, your logic, etc] have their own version of it, with lovely pastel colors, and I must still be a big kid myself, because I find it much more appealing to play =D But it's so frustrating to have to stop in the middle of a game :? Browsing the market is really neat when you just have 5 minutes to kill while the coffee finishes getting ready, or [censored for self preservation] minutes to kill while your fianc
