Quartz price under 12 is illogical

Post by Guest » 26.03.2007, 01:02

Hey everyone, why are you all offering to purchase quartz at 10 when you can already produce MORE stones and sell them at 10 anyways?

If you want quartz, you'll have to go up to at least 12 if you want to attract suppliers, (or you get a bunch of non sacrifice cost considering players)

They're offering because they might get a taker.

Also, the cost of quartz is 1/10th the cost of stones. So if you run some numbers your percentage return on quartz is higher than stone by a significant amount. In fact, you can sell your quartz at 1.62 caps less than the stone and still make the same money per piece (I'm not assuming the increased production one gets from stone though).

Also, there are several people who sell their goods at 'odd' prices just to see who is buying and to try to set up future business dealings with those individuals.

What is interesting is the price of Silicon. It requires 1 quartz + power + production costs for each unit. Yet silicon is still selling cheaper than quartz.

That is interesting. There must be very very few Silicon buyers, or else perhaps Silicon manufacturers are somehow less savvy than Glass manufacturers.

Note to self: do not enter the Silicon selling business.[/i]

Actually, compare the price of pigs and cows.
Both cost the same to make, 30 corn, 350 water and same build cost too, yet pigs can be bought as low as 30 but you'll never see cows below 45. AND, both of those, if you buy water from the market at 0.06, still have a manufacture cost of about 50ish, people sell pigs really cheap.

Is that possibly because you can produce leather and leather goods from cows but not from pigs?

I'd tend to agree with you, cows lead to the leather branch, where as pigs go to the meat branch only.

But, on the market, its cow and pig producers who check their costs, they have wells and pretty much sell off their water at 2c instead of costing it at 6.

Its fun to be a butcher :D
