Realm 2 Contests are weird...

Post by Guest » 15.08.2008, 16:20

I'm really sick and tired of the cheat-plagued Realm 2... I have followed almost all contests in this realm and this is one of many times where a company that barely has 400 million FA scores a 2nd place.

With the average price of beer running around 250-500c over the time of the contest, he must have spent around 600-800 million caps to reach his 3,000,000 beer.

HOW ON EARTH can a company with 400 million in FA have so much cash? I barely make that much and I have almost 1 billion FA.

In the last contest, a company even spent around 1 billion in cash while increasing its fixed assets by another 500 million in the same time with FA around 700 million.

I'm almost certain that after the contest, this company doesn't do anything any more for a couple of month - just like it happened with other companies that spent much more than they would technically be able to given their fixed asset level.

It is just really no fun any more to lose against cheaters. This will definitely be the last contest I took part in.

Two Ideas:
1. They make their own contest products.
2. They are buying and selling coins for the cash needed. (Happens in every contest.)

Heh... Don't complain just because you lose... Hmmmm what do they call those people??? Oh yeah... Sore Loosers. Deal with it... He probly Sold His Buildings, Use coins... U also Probably didn't know that a person can Have a billion or trillion Caps without being detected by storing it in the form of Items... Steel, Stones and Etc... (Mostly Steel Bcoz the prices are stable without any worry of Increase or decrease in prices) Also mostly used to avoid Leveling Up.

Also Beverage factory dont take too much FA so he can produce things himself.

Yeah. You could have built 50 1500m2 beverage factories then wait for them to expand and produce and sell the beer. You would make a fortune probably.

I absolutely 99% agree with Soc on this (1% being the possibility of buying coins, but no one in his or her right mind would do this as one can easily buy some status symbols for risk-free points).

As someone who have been monitoring very closely all the contests in R2 so far, bare one, I certainly have my doubts as to how these companies in question manage that, short of being cheaters. I've tried to produce and participate at the same time, but even with the size of FA I have, I found it impossible to have both pieces of the cake. Really, the way these cheater works is very simple. They have satellite companies, which either buy from the market, or produce themselves, and have the goods channeled to the core company. There could even be at least one other sub-core companies created to confuse the cheat-hunters. Myself, I have reported one to a game mod, and succeeded, :D

I think I know which companies you are referring to, Soc. One of the top companies in the last contest, which incidentally had been quite loud in the forum here has been banned, if that provide some consolation. There are a few which got banned too in the previous contests. Some did get away, and I believe these are the ones you are noticing too.

Now, to be fair to Soc, this is not a case of being a sore-loser (a single O), at least not from someone who is barely active in Realm 2. One must really be active most of the time to see such crimes being played out. I am active 15 hours a day, I know.

It is very frustrating to see these acts, for a genuine player. If it helps, Soc, I always console myself by the fact that most cheaters have short game interest span. They quit much quicker than a rat sprint, especially when they found that it gets harder to cheat and their brains too tiny to keep up. Well, at least that what I like to think.

Phew, long post..but FINALLY, someone who shares my suspicion! 8)

Just a voice from a small company

I don't care about cheaters.
My only concern is the beer market during last few hour
I don't know why I put beer at 494 at T - 5hr, my beer cannot be cleared.
Even though the price is around 4xx c at that time

There are many people more efficient than I am
They have large capacity on sale and production.
They can buy coins and sell
They can do deals via contract when I am sleeping (I live in UTC+8)
The list goes on...

There are many ways to raise cash legally.
When you lose, you blame cheaters.
Well, there may be cheaters but can they cheat in such scale?
Suspeting is only an easy way out

Personally, I deal with some large buyers during the contest.
They raise cash like crazy, draw contract in and sell stuff in stores.
I am impressed and amazed by their capacity (at least I cannot do it myself [yet])
I respect their very hard work.

During the contest, I have made some mistake and lose profitability in the long run.
So what, I can still absorb the losses and learn from them
Although I need to sell my unsold beer in my store :D
at least I can get my cost back

In real life, there are always people cheating, but one should do his/her own duty.
If you know someone cheating, you can report to the authority.
If you don't know, what the use and fun of blaming air is?

First of all, I think the guy is probably not cheating to get that amount of beer.

If I remember correctly, he is a contest hunter. That means he gets a lot buildings for just producing contest products. Check up the forum post and you will find he is very active in producing contest products for sale. In this beer contest, a sad incident (Yes everyone knows it, The no.1 company) happens so it causes him not able to sell out a lot beer. Therefore he puts all his beer(maybe some purchased) to the contest.

In spite of this, for those people say socro is just a sad loser, I cannot agree with you. I dun think Socro mind losing in the contest but he is just giving a possible suspect. You know, 4.5 mio beer is such an impressive number and I even cannot believe it. No matter the guy is a cheater or not, socro is just expressing his opinion not because of losing, but just giving out a reasonable hypothesis.

Wish you good luck.

It is like saying you don't care if someone breaks into your house. Awfully irresponsible. Anyways, you seem to contradict yourself here. Image

Not blaming anyone or anything here, mind you, just wish to highlight something that poses detrimental impact to the game. Myself have never failed to report my suspicion to the mods, and I believe Soc, and many other big players always do the same.

Zeca, Moondolphin, do note the time Soc posted, he is referring to another player at that time, not the final contest standing..Image

I am not sure if I can destroy your fears but... the cheater-tools are working very exact. I am sure if there are people that try to cheat themselves into the Top 100 of a contest, this will be noticed - and punished.

My understanding is that people earn the money by selling coins. A medal is worth far more than its reputation value - anybody can get rep but there are only so many medals out there. A top 20 placement in a contest, which generates pretty negligible rep, considering the cost, is highly valued because, well, you made the top 20! In Regnum even contest certificates were worth far more than their rep value until they put in the new quality certificate system, which hands out so many points that contest certificates are basically rounding errors now. But even though the rep value of contest certificates is now trivial and even a gold medal is no big deal rep-wise, people still fight like lions to climb the contest rankings.

Watch who you are accusing. TIB is not a group of cheaters. They just win almost always because everyone likes them

He didn't say anything about cheating. Instead, he was simply stating the truth. TIB members do help each other out and that is perfectly acceptable. No rules are being broken.

I was pointing out that we don't sell for artificially low prices, to other TIB or the public.
