Don't build everything in green. Mines and wells go in yellow. ONLY yellow. This may create some sort of inbalance, but mines and wells were meant to be put in yellow.

I made my own steel for a while, and it was a fun detour. Maybe I will make high quality steel later. However, you have to take into account how much you are saving vs. how much you could be making with some other business plan.

From the NPC, steel costs 135 per unit. So if you buy 1053 steel, you pay 142,155. Subtract your costs. That is how much you save. Divide by seven buildings. That would be 20,308 (minus costs/7) per building. It's not that hard to make more.

Self-sufficiency is a good idea for things like power, which is needed in large quantities for some goods and so its cost will be multiplied. But the steel NPC gives such a bargain price on Q0 steel. Power fluctuates from .06 to .23, but steel is never higher than 135.

For higher quality steel it's better to have your factory in Red area.

lol i made steel full time when i started i had a mentor who said it was a good buisness... in reality he just wanted to buy steel for 133caps :P

ive found a better buisness plan for myself now(and how often i log on) and now im trying to shift my factories :)

if anyone wants them check the building trade section R1 ;) :P

but to anyone who does want to produce steel remember everyone wants to buy it so youll neve rbe short of customers :)
