New Game
Hi Folks, I've been away from Kapilands for almost a year due to my work schedule - I can't tell you how much I've missed playing it.
As a personal hobby I am planning my own web game along the lines of Kapilands. However, the end-game plan is for Kapilands on steroids. It will be a future-based, space exploration and business game to include combat.
What I would like to know from you is what is about KL that you like so much, what would you change, what wyoud you add? I will be learning PHP as I build the game so I also could use a few volunteers to be beta testers.
Thanks for your time

I fully understand the wish to be able to develop your business without some bigger player coming along and completely destroying you. I have played many games like that and became just as frustrated. Here is what I envision with the game.
The game will start with the player as a business man in the future with full space exploration and colonization. There will be two major factions (or more) at odds against each other. You as the player will choose which faction you wish to start with. You will begin as you do in Kapilands as a small business man. Your business will be based on a world which is protected by your faction - so the business end of the game cannot be destroyed by other players. At some point, either by available resources or a set player level, you will be able to venture forth into space and expand your business. Or you may build a fleet of military vessels to go forth in battle.
While expanding into space, the player will have an option to develop within the protected zone of their faction or expand into no-mans land and risk attack. There will be advantages with expanding beyond protected borders to weigh against the risk. I have yet to figure out what I want to offer for battle, it may be that the player will be offered missions against a NPC, allowed free reign in the unprotected areas or a mix of both. The neutral area would allow for pvp battle and conquest while keeping the base business alive and well.
I am also looking for suggestions on materials and products to be used and produced. Keep in mind it will be future/space based. Obviously some of the basics such as metal, wood & food would be the same.

Perhaps I am not communicating my idea fully but I have yet to find a game the likes of what I want to create. I am not talking about Astro Empires either.kingrewt wrote:there are plenty of games like that you need something different. You have said nothing that hasnt already been done. don't think of the small details yet think on the grand scale. What will the biggest difference be between the others and yours? I think you should concentrate on that first.
My plan is meld what are my favourite parts of games that I have played into one game. So it will include a business aspect such as Kapilands where the only competition is prices and no one can destroy what you've built. Another part will allow you, should you wish, to play at combat (without affecting what you've built for a business). Each will have rewards and status competitions.
I plan on adding services to the business line such as restaurants, bars, movie theatres, video stores etc.
For those who are over the age of 18, there will also be an R-Rated factor available on the business side. There will be a line of adult products and services.
The plan is the same as Kapilands where it will be free to play, but there will be premium benefits for those who are willing to pay a nominal fee.
I was thinking that very same thing..podge wrote:Are you looking for a side door into the sex industry ?

So how will your graphics look like, will it be without any graphics and be just like Kapilands if you know what I mean, or will it be like lets say WOW direction, or none of those at all?
And btw, how will you figure out who's 18 and who's not?
